I went shopping today .... I am down from 14/16 to 10/12 .... Which is good (that is the success story part .... Now for the sad realization) but I still don't look good in the clothes... They don't fit right!!! They are either too baggy in the waist and tight in the booty, or too tight in the chest area and too big in the straps!!! Arrgggh!! Plus I still feel like a fat cow!!! I hate shopping!! I don't think I will go shopping again until I lose another 25 pounds, then maybe I can find something that will fit!! Usually when I get to this point I am ready to call it quits and rather gain the weight back, but not this time!!! I will lose the rest of this weight even if nothing fits!!

That's what alterations are for!!! Make the clothes fit your body... not your body fit the clothes. :) I have my body just about where it was when I was in my 20's. I can't complain about my shape at all (except for a little bit of belly fat left)... but I still need to alter clothes off the rack. Please don't let this get you down. It happens to everyone. Congrats on the smaller sizes!!!

bjohs is completely right!! Think about it, one brand/store cuts all of their tops the EXACT same way! People aren't cookie cutters, it only stands to reason that the MAJORITY of people buying clothes don't find they fit properly. I have problems like that, if pants fit my thighs they're too big for my waist and fall down, half the tops I like don't suit my large chest, sometimes a top will fit perfectly! except for it's too tight on my arms... it isn't that my body is wrong, it just means those particular pants or that particular top doesn't fit. Same goes for your body!! Shopping can be frustrating, but it isn't your fault!

yup - try some different stores or different styles than you would normally wear. Different brands, etc. certain things fit me well and others look AWFUL.

Especially the pants issue you are having - you need to check some other brands. People cut their stuff differently, you can find something that is cut right for you. Don't be afraid to go in higher end stores, browse the sales rack, and leave if they don't have anything. On sale, higher end clothes cost the same as other clothes at normal price.

Clothes are made to fit mannequins., not women! It is a sad realization, but not your fault. A very small percent of women fit into the clothes off the rack perfectly. I'm also at my goal weight and still find I have a hard time.

Also - find a store or brand that sells your 'shape'. And like everyone else has said, put your $ into higher quality items that will last. These will look better when altered, and you can continue to have them altered as you lose more weight.

Please don't call yourself a "fat cow"...you wouldn't say that to a friend or anyone else on MFP who was your size so don't say it to yourself :flowerforyou:

Your problems with clothes, like many have said, come from your body shape rather than your size as such. You sound a similar shape to me. I am an hourglass and have a largish chest small waist and rounded hips like many women. Some things just don't fit properly when you are that shape. Mostly, I don't wear clothes that are not meant for my shape even if they are in fashion as I don't look good in them (high necked sleeveless tops, skinny jeans etc). I sometimes envy girls who can wear those items but then, they probably envy me my pencil skirts and nipped in waists!

Learn to focus on what you can wear and alter things to fit (I'm short and have to have trousers altered all the time...nothing to do with my weight!).

I know it's hard when you don't feel you've got to where you want to be but you've lost so much already. It will come soon....but not if you give up now.

I had similar issues but I've discovered that many of the clothes that Kohl's carries actually seem to be cut more for my type of body. I suggest trying to shop there if you have one!!!

Otherwise, yes! Alterations. Go for it!
