I realized I'm sick and tired of waking up every morning and feeling like I'm failing in many aspects of my life.. So I'm taking control and weight loss seems like a good starting point. My goal is 35 pounds and I am giving myself till February to get there. I know that seems like a little to lose in so long but I have two jobs and not a lot of time. But I am going to keep up with this and while in at it in going to try and get my life together a little bit more and more. And actively make strides to achieve my goals both physical, personal, and professional. Motivation is where I'm lacking, so any and all kind words of motivation I could get are greatly appreciated.

Don't set time limits on weight goals. How much weight you can lose, depends on how much stored fat you have and the deficit you can sustain - as a rule of thumb, you can lose up to 1% of your body weight per week. Because body weight fluctuates naturally, your weight loss curve will not show a straight line. Do not interpret temporary ups as what you are doing, isn't working and a licence to give up. Know what you are doing, keep at it, and be patient.

All you have to do to lose weight, is to eat fewer calories than you expend, and that is totally in your control. You may have to resist some temptation, but no foods are off limit, and you decide for yourself what's worth the calories. Log correctly (weigh everything in grams, check entries for errors) and consistently (no cheats, no forgetting) and hit your calorie goal (set correctly, to lose 1% per week), and you will get there, I promise. Also measure your results correctly - pay attention to your weight over time, as explained above.

Good luck. My motivation when I started was also to take control of my life again. It is working and I feel in control again.
