Shoes you hated to wear

Back in the day (when Nike, Reebok weren't popular yet), Adidas (black with red stripes), Pumas (blue suede with white stripe) and Converse (white or black) were the rave of shoes.
And I had Kmart "TRAX". Why did I hate them? Because it seemed that every kid in America knew that style of shoe and shopping at Kmart for shoes put you in the class of "cheap". I swear every day it seemed that I got some comment on my TRAX. People would give you a nickel and tell you to save up to buy better shoes.
Consequently, my $5 allowance each week eventually was saved up to buy my own shoes (instead of my mom getting them at Kmart). VANS were my shoe of choice after that.

My mom made me wear saddle shoes with my uniform. Pro Wings were the cheap shoe of my day.

oh my god, I know exactly what you mean! I wanted ADIDAS SOOOO BAD! my mom bought crappy walmart shoes. And in marching band I needed good shoes -- so I suffered for it. I still have arch problems. :disappointed:

Like these. These were the only kind that were cool shoes in elementary school and such.

Haha! I remember those too. Back in the 70's, it seemed like every male in middle school was into Bruce Lee, so going to Chinatown and buying Kung Fu shoes were in too. So that they didn't wear out too fast, we put Shoo Goo on the bottom of cotton bottoms. Lol, no support in these shoes either!

Love/hate relationship with my climbing shoes. They're uncomfortable magic.

Back in the day when I wanted Nike or adidas trainers or something remotely stylish, my parents could only afford to buy be Nicks trainers, not Nike, nicks.

I absolutely dreaded wearing them for P.E at school, so I made my own Nike tick from some paper, coloured it in and stuck it on my shoes....voila Nike trainers haha you had to be inventive when your parents were broke

Also a pair of big clunky buckled shoes my mum made me wear during first couple of years of primary school, I HATED them. Used to hide my feet as far under my chair as I could so nobody could see them

Those shoes in 80s with the velcro straps.

I also hate ferragamos, allen edmonds and cole haans. These were my go to shoes circa 2008.

Why lump AE in with those other two? For SHAME!!! lol

For me, flip flops are the worst effing things to wear. Don't want anything between my toes.

1970s... track shoes. Google them if you dare. And I know my Mom didn't pay much for them.

I wore a pair of Walmart shoes. But life was such a blast growing up. Playing with friends, building forts, playing different sports, building bikes and riding them up/ down the neighborhood and hills, that materialistic things like shoes I could care less. I feel bad for kids now.they've put such an importance on things like that, that it almost seems that's what matters and they bullying these days is so harsh, it really makes you appreciate our generation

It's just the shape (the way they bend over time) and most of them are blake stitched. Only the AE park avenue is goodyear welted if I recall. I have completely shunned AE's, I used to love them once upon a time.

Ferragamos are the worst... all blake stitched and yet charging a fortune because it's a brand name and has been lionized by the Italian community.

Ferragamos just don't have any style that I like, and like you said they get by on having a name with some past glory. But true Allen Edmonds are GY welted, just not the 'AE' line sold at some value retailers. IMO they offer great quality for value so I'd never lump them in with Ferrags or Cole Haan. But obviously you have to like the way they look first and foremost.

I decided to wear these cute heels to work but ended up limping around the office barefoot - which wasn't quite appropriate or professional around clients  had crazy blisters and I've still got two marks on each foot!! Safe to say they went straight in the bin

Being a kid in the 80's we had Buster Brown shoes. I hated wearing them!

You could crack cement with them they were heavy as hell. But they sure did take a beating, which was mostly why my mom got them. I was a tomboy and really rough on my shoes. Also Catholic school, couldn't wear sneakers.

Pair of blinged out sexy heels I bought for my work Christmas party. I dance a lot and was limping by the end if the night with blisters.

Loved the way they looked so much, wore them out drinking on a girls night 2 months later. I had side-to-side blisters on the pads of both feet for weeks after....still have the shoes. Keep kidding myself it's not the shoes, must be how I'm wearing them LOL

That's how I was. It was keds and flip flops. Never noticed or cared what other kids wore.. and thankfully never got picked on.

These were one of my favorites. They sold them at the drugstore because they were "good for you"
