Mini goals?

What are some good "mini goals" to set that are reasonable? I tend to look at the "big picture", then get overwhelmed and frustrated and end up quitting. I "officially" started my MFP journey yesterday and am wondering what are little goals that some of you have set for yourself (and hopefully achieved!).

For me I take it one month at a time. This month I'm hoping to be down 5 pounds. Still not where I want to be. I want to be at 190 and I'm at 233. But I keep seeing the number 228 in my mind and think how nice it would be to be in the 220's. I don't keep goals as far as my exercise is concerned. I figure if I'm doing it.... I will accomplish my main goal. But for me it has to be one month at a time and I know I will eventually get there.
  • I have mini goals of about 5 pounds at a time and set myself rewards for each one...I have one coming up tomorrow and need to lose another 1.4pounds so needless to say I might miss that deadline! Oooops...

I also do monthly goals, like 10 pounds by x-date. BUT I also do mini rewards. When I get to 175 I can go get the tattoo I've been wanting, when I hit 165 I'm getting my hair colored, these are all things I would do noramlly anyway, but I tied them into my weight loss to give me extra motivation. Like getting my hair colored, I am not a natural blonde, but my hair is currently blonde, when my hair starts getting not-so-blonde looking I'm EXTRA motivated to get that weight off!

Mine are monthly - for steady, sensible loss (basically 2lbs a week, so 8lbs in a month.) It means I don't stress about small weekly fluctuations, and yes, I get overwhelmed when I think of the "big picture" too!

I add a few "mental" goals in there too ("feel happy in swimsuit on holiday" etc) and most importantly, I factor in a reward if I hit my target :D

Feel free to check out my profile - all my goals are listed there :)
