Since some people's perception of what they see in the mirror is skewed (think anorexia) this isn't always good advice. OP, look at a healthy weight calculator particularly one that takes in your bone structure/frame. If you have the opportunity and means get your body fat percentage measured as that is also a good indicator of your true health.

I'll use myself and my family as an example. My sister and I are about the same height and are both a healthy weight but we are very different in terms of bone structure. She and my mom have tiny little bones and I'm built like my dad with a wide frame, larger fingers, wrists, shoulders and rib cage. My mom's wedding ring fits my little finger perfectly and I can't even get close to getting it on my ring finger. My thumb and forefinger (pointer) wrap around their tiny little wrists with at least a half inch of overlap while around my wrist they are about a half inch apart. I weigh more than my sister but we look pretty similar in size, other than my wider shoulders and torso.

Additionally, if you have more muscle you will weigh more at the same size because muscle is more dense than fat. 5 pounds of muscle takes up less space than 5 pounds of fat. This is why I mentioned the body fat percentage. If your body fat percentage is lower you're going to look smaller at the same weight.

I reached a point where there was a conflict between losing an additional 2 or 3 kg and training for long distance cycling event.

At this point, I've opted to train for long distance cycling events, which means ... I'm maintaining now. :)

I am in the lower half of my normal BMI range, so I don't really need to lose more weight, but when my training eases up a bit, I might make some attempt to lose those additional 2 or 3 kg.

Hey - I keep wondering this also! I think if you look up your healthy weight for your height and build - I know I'm towards the lower/middle of mine - I could loose some more but run the risk of loosing my curves! I really don't want to look " skinny" I know when I was a couple pound lighter about 7/8 years ago than I am now ppl were always saying how I looked too thin! I know some ppl will say when your happy but I'm the kind of person I will always find fault in my body and when I was size 8 ( uk size) and skinny I still felt I looked fat ! Being healthy weight I think is more important x
