"Juicing" calories?

Hi everyone. Help me if you can. Juicing experts--I need you.

So my husband has been juicing. He, however, is not doing it for weight loss--just overall health (he is not overweight). He does not track food like we do here at MFP.

So, how does one log juice calories when juicing your own fresh fruits? Is it the same as if you ate the whole fruits that went into it? Is it less because it takes the juice but leaves the pulp? Are there juicing cals in our database here? Help a girl out. He made me a juice for tomorrow--I want to log it:)

Totally different amount of calories and YES there is RAW juice in the database! Just look up each of the raw veggie or raw fruit your are juicing and make your own "meal" out of it on your food log. JUICE ORGANIC ONLY!
  • Agreed. There are some raw juices in the database, but not all. And if you're making juice mixes, then it's tough to tell how much of each juice you have (e.g. was that 1 or 3 oz. of kale juice?). Of all my books, only "The Everything Juicing Book" has nutrition info for each recipe by cup. The numbers there can also be a good guide when the database is lacking. For example, their Orange Carrot juice is 206 calories, the Kale Apple Spinach is 295, and the Broccoli Carrot is 195.

Weight the contents before juicing, weigh the pulp and subtract. If you use MFP recipe builder you can add each individual item with weights add together then subtract the pulp reading.
