I am freaking out. Love the fact that I'm down 5 pounds but noticed my hair is falling a lot! my scalp is usually oily after a day of not washing and now its dry. FYI I eat around 1400 a day I'm 5'1 female 39 years old. Started taking woman's vitamin, vitamin d, magnesium and a probiotic, anything else I should be on? I eat lots of vegetables. Not too much dairy. HELP! has anyone gone through this?

What is your protein and fat intake like? Do you eat back exercise calories?

Cheap shampoos do that, even my daughters have complained when they used cheap shampoo, that their scalps itched and hair falls out. So we had switched to Shea Moisture and Carol's Daughter brand, and they have not caused problems
Also right now, all of us women in my house have noticed more hair falling out, maybe it's the summertime? We don't have this issue normally, so it may be seasonal.
If you are tracking your food intake (do you weigh on a food scale?) you can have an honest look at what you are eating. Hopefully you eat plenty of protein (80g or so a day, at your size?), healthy fats and yay for veggies.

Lots of things can cause this-- this happened to me- still don't know the actual reason but am working on growing my hair long again cause it broke off and fell out a lot-- getting it back now but sucked!

So- the things I researched were stress, protein intake, and hypothyroidism (I have this so this is probably the cause of mine mixed with stress)

But hope you find the reason and able to fix it!

Sometimes hair does that due to a drastic drop in protein or calories.

See a doctor. This is something you should not be seeking help about online but by a professional. Now, yes, someone on here may be a professional which is awesome for them to help but you need to talk to you own personal physician as they know about your health history and know your body.

I second seeing a doctor. However, I know my wife is iron deficient and one of the first signs (besides fatigue) is hair loss and brittle hair.

Maybe you lack Biotin in your diet from foods, you could buy Biotin pills. But we can't really know what it is causing your hair loss; you should check with a specialist instead of guessing.

Google 'telogen effluvium'. It has happened to me several times through stress, or an extreme change in diet / exercise. It can last several months and it distressing, but I never lost enough to make my hair look 'thin', even though it seemed to come out by the hand full.

When it falls out, it is actually due to new growth coming through.

Take a breath, don't panic (it will make it worse), and just tell yourself it will all be fine.
