Green tea

If you're really curious about this, you can look for the studies and read up on it yourself. Most of them haven't shown much. There have been some studies that show a very, very slight increase in metabolism (the oft cited 4% from a 1999 study - or about 50-100 extra calories a day). But that's within the margin of error for most people. It's not a noticeable difference.
If you want to drink green tea, go for it. But the weight loss effects have been overhyped by media articles or a misunderstanding of the science involved. A calorie deficit and moving more are still your best bet.0 -
It has good health benefits, in addition to a metabolism boost. Much better for you than diet pills.1

I wouldn't drink a ton if you're prone to kidney stones, but if you like it, it's a nice change up from water.0

I'm confused. Did anyone here state that it would kill you? The OP said it was "great for the metabolism." I realize it's subjective, but I wouldn't consider a number within the margin of error to be "great." I'm a fan of making sure people here who are struggling to lose while fighting through the misinformation out there get information that's as accurate as I can provide.0 -

While we're on this topic, wasn't it determined there is something in green tea that helps improve cognitive ability in people with a particular mental disorder?0

i do the same thing, except instead of green tea, try red wine or amber beer.0
