Just wanted to say You're Beautiful

Yesterday while talking to a (male) coworker, he made the statement (jokingly) that all I needed was a mommy makeover and that my husband secretly probably wanted me to get some work done too.

As a woman who gave birth to two beautiful kids, you do not understand how painful and gut wrenching this statement was. I just tried my best to keep a strong face so he couldn't see how much his statement hurt.

I have a wonderful husband who loves me and every inch of my body, but it really got to me how as a woman (or man), we continue to fight this image society has made us (and everyone else) believed is perfect when it's NOT. I know I'm not skinny, or fit, that i don't have perfect skin, and that i don't look like a supermodel, but I have some many other qualities that make me a kind and beautiful person. I know that I'm not going be to of everyone's liking, but there's no need to be ugly. I constantly keep working on being a better person, mentally and physically, and that's all I can do.

So to everyone out there, you're a beautiful person regardless of what society says, and I'm freaking proud of you for doing something to better yourself.

Sincerely,
Alo

Every woman is beautiful! Some people are just blind to see beyond what the media describes as beautiful! Keep the positivity up! You're awesome!

I look at the photos people post here, and I'm always warmed and amazed by the beauty I see. So much variety and richness and loveliness, and so much hope and determination. Also, OP, your coworker needs to chat with somebody in human resources, if that's an option where you work. Nothing about what he said is okay for a workplace. (Or any human relationship, in my opinion.) I can't even imagine how awful that must have made you feel. Such a nasty, undermining power play. Ugh.
