1/2 way there and losing sight...HELP!

Ok....so I've lost over 30lbs then got stressed and sidetracked and gained between 5-10 lbs back. I'm so frustrated by the whole thing. I have another 30 lbs to lose and I'm having trouble staying motivated and on track. I'm ashamed that I gave up and gained weight back, no matter what the reason. That's why I stopped using the support of MFP. But I am smart enough to realize that I can't do this on my own, so I'm asking for help!
I'm getting married next year and that alone should be enough motivation to get fit, but I'm letting the everyday stuff take right over.
Can anyone share any motivating stories? Or is there someone else out there who has been where I'm at that can tell me how they got past it to find success? I know you're out there!! I've been a MFP member for over a year now and I see how this helps and I know it works...I just need to get back on track!

When I lost some of my motivations, I just worked on maintaining for a while. Then things weren't as intense for me. After a month of maintaining, I got back on track with my eating. Now I have lost 133 pounds with 5 to go. You can do it. Give yourself a small break, but don't completely give up.0

Have u started looking for a dress yet? I am getting married next year too. And my biggest motivation is the dress!! I lost 10 pounds before i tried any on, and i am so glad i did because i would have hated to have tried them on feeling fat and awful!
and now i know i need to keep the weight off till the wedding....!0 -
I think about wanting to be healthy for my future kids. I want to be that cool mom that runs around and plays with my kids outside, not the one sitting and watching them. That is my motivation.0

MINI GOALS!!!! Set small goals for yourself to make the task of losing 30lbs seem less daunting. Set a goal of losing 4lbs in the next 2 weeks, work towards it and reward yourself when you get there. Then make another goal. They can be shorter goals or non-scale goals, like lose 1.5lbs by the end of the week or burn 2000 calories by the end of the week. If you keep setting these small and achievable goals then before you know it the pounds will have melted away and you will have reached your 30lb goal. Slow and steady steps get you to the finish line.
I am currently in your position myself. I lost 20lbs since January, gained 12lbs back and now Ive started fresh again. My first goal is to lose 10lbs in July. Ive already lost 6lbs!!!0 -
I had the same trouble earlier this year and thankfully that's when I was told about MFP - got me right back on track.
Don't beat yourself about about the backslide, let that go and concentrate on the restart. Think about how you felt when you originally joined MFP...what you really enjoyed about the site and those new habits you started to form and get back into that same mindset of excitement about the journey.
You already know the big picture goal (wedding next year) isn't really motivating you so just set small goals and build up your new habits slowly. This week, track everything. Next week, keep tracking and concentrate on meetng your calorie goal consistently. The week after, start exercising more consistently. Get my drift?
Good luck - you can do this!!!!0 -
I have started and stopped trying to drop the 40 pound journey I'm on about 10 times in the past two years. This time, I committed to logging onto this site every single day, and sticking to it. I got motivated when my wife took up running again, and trimmed almost 40 pounds. She looks great now, and weighs the same as she did on our wedding day 20 years ago, and before kids!
Sometimes stepping back and re-establishing the reasons you started will help. Get a piece of paper, and write out all the reasons you started on this goal. Kids? Family? Wedding? Health benefits? Tired of being tired? Millions of them..but list why it's important for you. Then stick it on your fridge so you see it every day.
Keep going...keep reading the posts..and good luck!0 -
You've done very well I see. I was looking for a post from someone who wanted to give up, because I was feeling sorry for myself - following the rules for two weeks to a "T" and gaining 3 pounds. Was gonna close my account to MFP and just live my life. Then I saw your success story and changed my mind. I grudgingly put that new weight in, lowered my calories number, and here I go. You will do it because you know how, 26 pounds, halfway mark. The thing is, you dont turn around and go back, ok, like I was about to do. I know you probably have that dress in your mind if not already picked out, that's something to help. I have nothing to look forward to but a healthier life - you've got that wedding!!! Go at it girl, you've done half you know you can do the rest.0

I suggest you tune into "Say Yes to The Dress - Big Bliss" and you will gain motivation immediately. I feel for these brides-to-be who are frustrated because they don't look the way they'd like to look in a wedding dress. I know it's going to be difficult because planning a wedding is a very stressful activity. To help curtail the stress, solicit help from your friends and family or look into hiring a wedding planner, which I happen to do part-time. When your body is stressed, it makes it that more difficult to lose the weight. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and continue to seek support on MFP; that's what we're here for!0

Thanks so much everyone! I am feeling better! You are right, all that advice is worth taking and I will. I just need to set mini-goals for myself and make sure that my days and weeks are going right and the rest will follow! This is why I love MFP!0

You can do it!!! Put your mind to it and don't let a minor slip become a complete fall from the wagon. Keep your focus on the dress and the mini goals.
What is your current weekly goal to lose? If your at 2lb a week, it may help you to reduce this to 1lb a week. This will increase your calories and you will feel alot better for it. When you feel better about this journey, you can increase it again. Just remember to log carefully and If you do go over your calorie limit, just make sure that you do enough exercise to counteract it.
You will get there, just turn a new page and don't worry about your slip. :flowerforyou:0
