I met my first mini goal

So I never imagined I'd be here. And by here I mean over 200 lbs. I've always been active but overweight. Tried several diets that never worked. In 2013 I lost 40 lbs during my husbands deployment,I decided to get fit instead of fat. After my husband got back early 2014 I got pregnant, miscarried, got pregnant again august of 2014, had a baby boy in may of 2015 had several complications but in the process rose to over 200 lbs, found out my husband had an affair got up to 223 my highest weight ever (did I mention I'm an emotional eater). But back in may I set a goal to lose 10 lbs by my birthday (you know slow and steady). My birthday is next week and I hit that mark today. I am SO excited, and in doing this just when watching what I eat and making sure it stays within my calorie goal, I've had pizza and ice cream this week. Now I'm not sure if my next goal should be to lose be under 200 by my vacation (need to lose ~13 lbs. In 9 weeks) or under 200 by thanksgiving (~13 lbs in 16 weeks).
Edited to fix weeks before Thanksgiving.

Congratulations on achieving your first goal! You were smart to go the slow and steady route and allow yourself to eat what you want as long as it fit within your calorie allotment. That's a sustainable habit. Once you get more used to tracking, if you want, you can start looking at your macros and nutrient intake and try stick to those specifications.
As far as your next goal goes, that's entirely up to you. When I started I set a fairly easily attainable goal weight for myself, then when I was close to reaching it, I'd lower it by a few pounds. I think I did that 3 or 4 times. It also depends how much you want to lose per week, and how many calories you're comfortable with limiting yourself to daily. And you can always change it...if you start with a goal to lose 1 pound per week and find the calorie limit to restrictive, change it to lose half a pound a week, no biggie. Like you said, slow and steady Good luck!1 -

If it were I, I would say to keep it conservative with the 13 lbs in 16 weeks mark. Only because I have personally set myself back by being disappointed when I was over zealous with the goal. I am always so glad to see young women like yourself doing self care. Don't wait till your old like I did to appreciate your body and life. Good luck!!!1

@thenananator I think that is what my plan is going to be. I'll hope to have it done in 9 weeks but set the goal for thanksgiving.0 -
