I would really encourage you to focus on eating real food and not drinking calories. There's no need for protein shakes when you are starting out and they pack a lot of calories that you will need during the day to adjust to eating less. There is also no reason to start at 1500 calories if you are at 275. I started with 1800 at 267 and have lost 83 lbs in 18 months. Enter your stats into MFP and see what is needed for 1 lb/week. Starting out with yiour calories too low will make it harder to keep to your plan. There's plenty of time to go lower as your weight drops - I'm at 1280 @ 185 for 1 lb/week and I need to supplement that with exercise so I can eat 1500. Good Luck!!4

general equation for weight loss is:
(weight in lbs X 10 desk job
weight in lbs X 11 moderately active
weight in lbs X 12 highly active
so for me I'm 208lbs. example if I sat at a desk all day...
208 X 10 = 2080. I'm wanting to lose 2lbs/week, so that's 7000 cals/week or 1000/day. But I workout and burn approx 300-350 cals per day.
2080 - 1000 = 1080 +350= 1430
For you at 275, if you sat at a desk all day or didnt really exercise
2750 - 1000 = 1750 should be a BASE. However there is variance. You want to be able to eat the most you can while still losing lol.
MFP tells me to eat 1200cals... no I eat 1800 and still lose 2.5-4lbs a week depending how busy i am.0 -

Yes but when you have over 75 lbs to lose, 2lbs a week is NOT too aggressive. I had 120 lbs to lose at the start. As I near closer to my goal I will adjust to 1 lb per week. I'm going to venture out on a limb and guess that OP is not 6 feet tall. Since she didn't leave her height, I would guess she has at least 75-100 lbs to lose. Of course she can start wherever, but at my starting weight, I was given 1620 to start for 2 lbs loss per week. Being that she is heavier than me, she might be closer to 1800 to lose 2 lbs per week anyways.0 -
Well I'm more than 75 pounds overweight I am 5 foot at 275 my nutrition this was the one who recommended the protein shakes0

I am recently starting over as well and have about 60 pounds to lose. You can do it , I have set it up in 10 pound increments so total goal doesn't overwhelm me. Feel free to add me, the more support the better0
