Are you going to watch the Perseid meteor shower this weekend?

PSA: We haven't had a Perseids this good in 20+ years. It will peak Friday night. Look to the north, especially after moonset.

Yeah. Visible from mid July to late August, but it's about to peak. Supposedly up to about 200 meteors per hour, that's almost constant. I think that's at like 2 am.

I live in Seattle. Apart from the weather we have so much city light you can only see the brightest stars. Beth and I are taking Friday off, we're going to drive (300 miles?) to the edge of the Pasayten Wilderness, hike in to a high basin, and set up camp for a couple nights. Watch the show at night, bag a few peaks during the day, then hike out Sunday and drive home.

One perk of living in the middle of nowhere is seeing the night sky. That is, if the weather cooperates. :) Thank you, OP, for the reminder!

Is it on Pay per view? Cause if not, I won't get a chance to see it with all the lights where I live.
