At maintenance I can fluctuate up to 2lbs in any day due to hormones or high carb/sodium days.
If neither of those factor in then is just .5lb fluctuation.

Week to week my weight usually trends downwards, but day to day it can fluctuate up to 2lbs.

    1-5 pounds a day.

If I drink 2 pounds of water (32oz), I gain 2 pounds immediately.
If I eat 2 pounds of chocolate cake, I gain 2 pounds immediately.

Calories have nothing to do with immediate weight gain during the day - the actual weight of the food does. 2 days later, the water I drank doesn't increase my weight (unless I'm dehydrated), but the chocolate cake does.

So, don't worry about day-to-day fluctuations. You can eat well below your calorie allotment for the day and gain 5 pounds temporarily. But over time, you'll lose if your CI is less than your CO.

1-2lbs. Can be frustrating as there seems to be no obvious reason for it!

I don't weigh myself daily as I know there are a number of things that can make your weight fluctuate at different times of the day and daily, so I weigh myself weekly and see the scales go down 1-2lbs a week.

I've been in maintenance for years now, and it seems to vary 1-2 pounds. Maybe add an extra pound to that number during "that time of the month." It's pretty consistent. I hardly even check anymore.
