I know i have to many questions:), who doesn't. I was wondering i am at my first ten pounds lost, how much of that is actually fat? I have been eating really healthy and drinking tons of water like 13-15 cups a day. Am i really losing fat or just water? thank you for the positive support and all the help. katika

I think you could only tell for such by having your body fat % done every 10 pounds. Your not just losing fat but also water and often muscle too. It all depends on where you start and what you are doing to lose. I'm pretty sure there is no set amount of fat per pound.

Depends on a lot of factors, the more fat you have to lose the more likely most of it is from fat. For most if you lose 10 lbs between 6-9.5 would be from fat, but it is possible if you are new to strength training that if you lost 10 lbs that you may have lost 10-12 lbs of fat, and put on 0-2 lb or muscle, but this really only happens if you have a lot to lose and are new to lifting.

Other than your first week or so, it should not be water that you are losing, it will be lean muscle and fat that you lose. If you put on water weight say 2 lbs, then lost 3 on your next weigh in most likely 2 of the 3 would be water.

Well... I just got my analysis done yesterday at my gym (one of them, anyway). Here's how mine is laid out:

this month, I lost 11 pounds, and 7.61 of that was fat pounds (I think this is based on my actual body fat % test that they do). Overall at this gym since March, I've lost 32.8 pounds, and 25.41 of that was body fat pounds. Again, I think that's based on my %. It has gone from 40.8 to 33.6. This probably varies from person to person based on their own body tests.
