Staying within calories and not losing

I have over 100 pounds to lose and am staying within my calories of 1400. Weigh everything and am not losing weight. So frustrated

How long have you been doing this? Are you sure you're logging all of your food properly? Have you pooped recently? I'm waiting for someone to post the flow chart that will be a fabulous guide to help you discover what's going on.

Here's a great post about keeping a food diary that might offer some insight: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10191216/the-most-important-thing-you-can-do-to-lose-weight

But did you log those snacks as there are days in your diary with just 2 meals and no snacks. You may just eat a snack and forget to log it. I'd get used to weighing and logging everything you eat including snacks, nibbles etc.

I think you need to eat more nourishing foods, do you eat vegetables? Raw or cooked? Maybe try and cut up some raw veggies for snacks. I try to prep mine for the week on Sunday's as I don't have the time in the mornings. I find I do have a better loss when I eat the right foods, not just eating under calories (but that's me). Do you drink water? I don't see any water logged. Check out others' diaries for some meal ideas. It takes diligence for logging to become habit, once you get going you'll want to have everything logged correctly.

I have about 200 pounds to lose, and 1400 calories wouldn't cut it for me. You might need to increase the calories just a little, in case your body thinks it's in "starvation mode".

The other thing to do would be to change up what you're eating or what you're doing for exercise. Maybe add fiber? Make sure you're drinking your water? And making sure you're being real about what you're logging.

No to starvation mode. Just watch the show Naked & Afraid and watch how their bodies drop weight b/c they aren't getting enough calories to maintain their current weight.

    This bothers me...

So because you have 200 pounds to lose, you're going to tell OP who has 100 pounds to lose that 1400 is not enough to for her??? Your calorie goal is going to be higher than OP's because she has less to lose than you. Telling her to up calories is only going to make things worse.

I have 100 pounds still to lose and I am losing fine at 1490 calories (lost the current 22 lbs at around 1500) without knowing all of OP's stats, it is hard to say what calorie goal she should be at, but going higher will not fix the issue.

I didn't look at your diary but I did read some previous posts. If you consumed 4 slices of Pizza Hut pizza, that is definitely more than 700 calories. From their website, 1 slice of hand tossed large pepperoni is 310 calories. Not sure what toppings you ate, but 4 of those would equal 1240 calories, not 700.

You need to weigh every you eat and stop selecting entries put in by other people. You can still eat pizza, just make sure you verify all nutrition info from the restaurant website.

I've been on MFP for 3 years and can't believe people still talk about "starvation mode". No. If you are eating at a deficit, barring any medical problems, you will lose weight. If you are not losing weight, the most likely culprit is you are underestimating calories eaten. I can tell you right now that 4 slices of Pizza Hut pizza is way more than 700 calories. Per their website, ONE slice has between 500-700 calories. So, there's that.

it depends on what size you get. a medium pepperoni pan is 260

Can you explain by what mechanism the human body would need more calories to lose weight? Is the metabolism a black hole? What happens to the extra ingested energy? Thanks, I will await a full explanation to present to my research group
