So I finally reached my goal weight, yey! But last week i hopped on the scales and i was suddenly two pounds heavier than what I was the day before (my goal weight) and I am still this weight today. Even though my calorie intake and exercise regime is the same, could it be water weight?

Did you change anything when you hit your goal? More calories to maintain? It's water retention, unless you seriously pigged out 7000 calories.

You don't have a scale weight you have a scale weight range which allows for natural water weight fluctuations ...generally 5lbs around core weight point

    Want proof?

Last year of maintenance normality ...grey line is actual scale weight

    Causes of water weight fluctuation
    - change in exercise
    - Change in carb intake
    - Change in sodium intake
    - Hormonal shifts around ovulation and menstruation
    - Phases of moon
    - Hydration

I didn't change anything consciously, so must be water weight, thanks!

Thank you, that makes a lot more sense now! So have I actually reached my goal weight or was I just 'tricked'?

This is why you need to look at weight trends, not the everyday number. Weight can shift drastically depending on how hydrated you are [from a few pounds down due to dehydration to a few pounds up due to bloating/water retention].

Trendweight.com auto synchs via Fitbit (don't need a Fitbit just set up a free account and synch to MFP)

    There's also Weightographer.com

Or apps like libra and happyscale
