Anyone NOT use artificial...stuff? =p

Anyone use real sugar, butter, cheese, meat, and all that stuff?

My baby is allergic (apparently) to artificial cheese. I didn't even know they made artificial cheese until I bought it by accident =p We aren't tofu people, and we -hate- artificial sweetners, and butter was just a personal choice... i hear it boosts your immune system and some other junk =p

Anyone else?

I use real everything pretty much... I just make sure I allow for the calories. I try to find recipes that are healthy and use honey or applesauce to sweeten, I do use egg-beaters or only egg whites instead of whole egg, and I use soy milk. But butter, I haven't let go of that yet. And I personally don't like low fat cheese - ick:sick: so I use the real stuff, just in moderation...

You can still have all these things, you just have to watch your portions...

oh yeah 0_o we are still on whole milk here. (2 year old) Its too expensive to buy two diffrent kinds of milk. geez... I havent put that into my dairy yet (we are out) I bet its going to hurt =p We aren't soy people either xD I can't get into it, it gives me the hebby geebys for some reason, hubby too xD I dont know if I have ever had low fat cheese... it sounds unpleasent =p I dont think we have ever purposly bought 'low fat'/'no fat'/'reduced fat'/'light' or any of that kind of stuff before... we like organic =p but that doesnt count for much xD

    Thanks Lulu =)

I try to eat real food all the time. I call it the whole food diet :) More satisfying than the fake food diet And its REAL food. Most people confuse "real" food for artificial foods and its out of sheer ignorance.

AMEN! Although I am not one for sugars and saturated fats, I won't put anything into my body that is artificial or processed. Just not worth it. I use things like agave nectar, honey and fruit to sweeten, egg whites, and I do like skim milk cheese (the full fat stuff just feels like too much). So many people load themselves up with chemicals and artificial flavours and colours and don't think twice. Wild.

I do. I go as organic as I can afford. The sugar and everything else, I still eat I just use less of it.
As for milk, I still buy whole milk but as dreadful, as it might sound I dilute mine with water. This way I do not eat my cereal dry and I still do not get all the calories of a full cup.

I only eat REAL food  You dont know what they have done to the artificial stuff
My sister was making a cake and during the marg ( with artificial stuff) and sugar mixing stage the phone rang, thinking she would just be a few seconds she allowed the beater to carry on mixing:tongue: WELL 10 minutes later she could hear the beater making a whining noise  she went to check on it to find wait for it Plastic :noway: that was setting and making the beater set tight.
So since that I never use artificial food.

Life may not be the party we hoped for :grumble: :explode: but while we are here we might as well dance! :drinker: :blushing:"

not only do i not use artificial stuff, I do alot of canning, etc in season and we purchase our meats in halves and freeze. It is really hard to find calorie counts on food you make from scratch, but I have been trying to keep track of ingredients and locate the calorie count for each item. When worse comes to worse I pick the higher count. Food u prepare from scratch is so much better than the store bought item. I have cut out most added sugar from my plan, seems like I can do without. Chocolate has been eliminated and that is tough. Baking has been also removed, and hubby is not happy. but if it's in my house I will eat it. Explained no baking until my weight is off, he asked how long? When I bake it was usually pies, cakes, cookies. Anything u buy prepackaged in the store u can make from scratch with a little thinking.....and there are so many recipe sources on line that will help. Processed foods just aren't in my plan right now.

Yes, I use the real stuff too. I just can't give up my real cheese, butter, eggs. I have switched to skim milk for all my cooking, and I use low fat or fat free stuff for most things now... but somethings just do not taste better nor the same without 'real' stuff.

I also don't eat hardly any food with artificial ingredients. Eating organic and natural makes me feel a lot better! If you're interested in learning more, I'm almost done reading the book "In Defense of Food" by Michael Pollan...it's about how Americans are eating so much processed and artificial food, often times trying to become healthier in doing so. We need to go back to basics!! GREAT read, I highly recommend it

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who uses real butter, eats whole eggs and regular cheese. I don't think I will ever change with these foods. I am trying to eat less processed foods, but with it everywhere, it's kind of hard. I will look into getting that book "In Defense of food"

you guys should try making olive butter. 50% salt-free butter, 50% olive oil. Blend until completely combined, refrigerate. It doesn't get stuck in your veins like butter, much healthier and still a whole food. My MIL's atherosclerosis specialist recommended this to her!!
