Keeping going when it feels like you are stuck

I've lost 30lbs of the 70lbs I want to lose but I'm losing momentum, how do you keep it going? I only lost 1lb last week because I'm starting to fall into bad habits and I only ran once last week instead of three times. I need some guidance on how to pick myself up again please?

I went through this last week actually. After a few weeks of losing 1.5-2 pounds a week, the scale seemed stuck. Have you re-evaluated your calorie goals? If you're down 30 pounds, you probably don't need as many calories you did before. Are you exercising? Try switching up your workouts. I know it's cliché, but try to remember that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

    Well,
First and most kuddos to you!!! 30 lbs is not such an easy task! The way I think about it is as follow!!

"How bad do I want it"!!!!!

If I am alsmot half way to my "ideal goal" how bad do I want it!
Also, if you wanna eat a chocolate cake, find out how much calories can you afford. Then go from their. You're almost to the reaching point don't give up now!!! Take one day at a time to achieve what you almost conquer!!!

1 lb a week is a perfect loss rate with only 40 pounds to lose. OF COURSE you're going to lose motivation if you're still stuck in a 1000 calorie deficit - heck I never ever picked the 2 lb a week setting because I would never have been able to stick to it.

Change your deficit to 1 lb a week.

What are the reasons you're losing motivation? I think if you examine that you might find some ways to regain it. If you're finding your eating is too restrictive, loosen up a bit. Give yourself more calories, lose a little more slowly but still keep losing. Some people find it helps to go on maintenance calories for a few weeks. I suggest going on maintenance for your goal weight. It'll give you a chance to find out what it'll be like for you once you reach your goal.

If you aren't getting any joy out of running, which is causing your to skip runs, find another activity you enjoy more. Or just walk instead.

First, objectively evaluate what you are doing and eating. Determine where you are steering yourself off course and then actively work to get back on course. As someone else pointed out, as you lose large amounts of weight, your calorie requirements do go down, so keep that in mind.
Secondly, If running isn't an activity you feel you can maintain doing as an ongoing fitness activity, find something else that you will find fun and sustainable, i.e. bike riding, hiking, swimming, horse back riding..
Lastly, don't get discouraged. 30 lbs is a very good milestone. I know it feels good. 60 lbs down feels even better! I'm certain 100 is even greater. Think of the pain and sweat you've gone through just to get to this point.... What rewards did you set for yourself for hitting 100lbs lost? Make all that sweat and pain worth it by hitting that target!!

Something else to consider: How do you start your day? Did you know that the first 20 minutes after waking up are when you are most open and receptive? Use those first 20 minutes to listen or watch something motivating and powerful to set the tone of your day. It will help keep you going strong. I like to listen to them while I drive in to work. No point grumbling about traffic when I can do something productive with that time. :)

Do you want to go back where you started? If you're not moving forward towards your goal , you're headed back to where you started. Works for me every time!
