Apartment exercises/workout videos that won't disturb the neighbors?

Hi everyone!
I just got back to school for the year and I went for a run and it was just too dang hot in Missouri to do more than 2 miles without feeling like I was dying.

I do indoor cycling at the Rec a few times a week, but I'm looking for something I can do inside my apartment on days I don't go to cycling. Unfortunately, I'm on the upper level and I really don't want to bother the girl below me with lots of stomping and jumping around. I was doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and I liked it, but the cardio (jumping jacks, jump ropes etc) makes me worried I'll be bugging my neighbor below me.

Anybody else have this problem? I wouldn't mind a DVD I could purchase or just some suggestions for cardio until it become tolerable to run outside again.

Thank you in advance! :)

Have you talked to your neighbors? Realize that most are accommodating if you're cordial with them and ask if it would be okay if you make noise for ________ minutes from exercising.

I agree with above but if you still have worries about it, look on youtube. There are lots of free exercises on there. I am sure you could find something.

Hula hooping? Yoga videos on YouTube? Dancing with headphones in?

    Hey Alyssa!

I've recently started using a website called Flex which streams live workout videos provided by fitness instructors, and there are loads of different types of workout (ie yoga, pilates, ab workouts, HIIT etc) so you could choose one which involves less jumping around (such as the ab/ yoga videos?). I know you said you're in the US but there might be a live stream which works for you in terms of timing (some of the trainers are US based)! Link is below if you're interested :)

    Hope that helps!

If you search on YouTube for "low impact workout cardio" "low impact full body workout" "apartment friendly workout" etc, there are tons of options for all levels there, anywhere between 10 min to 40 min. Some of them are totally killer. I totally understand your dilemma. I live in an apartment too. These workouts are perfect for that, and also a great option if you have bad knees or are recovering from an injury.

I also live in an apartment at college on the top floor. Personally I just look around the internet for different workouts for different parts of my body that don't include stomping or jumping and do multiple sets of those workouts. I also recently purchased an exercise ball, great for stretching and getting a "deeper" workout. But if you're looking for a video, Bloglaties on Youtube has videos explicitly for this type of thing and the girl is really fun so it's also entertaining (at least to me).
