I Came in Last!

In 10 days, I will be participating for the 3rd year in a row in the Seattle Alki Beach 5K to support breast cancer. In 2014 I walked, had severe shin splints the first 1.5 miles, and came in last of about 1500 people, 1 hour 20 minutes. I weighed about 275.

In 2015 I walked in 45 min, running the last 6 min. I had just hit 199.

This year I plan to run most if not all of it. I am currently at 155.

I see lots of posts on MFP where people are doing their first event and they say they want to finish, but not be last. There is no shame in participating and finishing last. I was last. It was a proud moment because 3 months before that I could barely walk 1/4 let alone 3.1 miles.

Push yourself to do something new before summer is over. Whatever it is, it is a small step forward in your journey. Go make yourself proud!

Great job. Do you know how many people never have the courage to start? No shame at all in last, just pride in finishing!
