Fitbit sync gives too much credit

Over the last couple of days, MFP has been giving me an absurd amount of credit for exercise -- over 1300 extra calories each day, when all I've done is some moderate walking (5000-7000 steps) over the course of each day. This morning I got up, put on the Fitbit, walked over to my computer and synced...and got 309 calories of credit for my 8 steps. Anyone else having this problem now or seen it in the past? FWIW, Fitbit's app and website seem to be registering everything accurately and reasonably, so this seems to be about how data is being brought over. Also FWIW, I hadn't synced in about 10 days (forgot my Fitbit when I went on a trip) and just started again. Thoughts?

Did you enable negative adjustments? This could prevent the devices from 'double dipping'.

Check your exercise settings on MFP - make sure it's using Fitbit to do the calculation. It sounds like it may be pulling the information from a hat instead.

If Fitbit is selected, try switching to "do not track steps," then switch back to Fitbit and see if that does the trick.

Aha! Just found the answer - turns out the time zone setting was off by almost 12 hours (no idea why; I didn't even recall that there was a time zone setting), so when I synced before bedtime it was treating a whole day on Fitbit as if those were the calories burned by 9 am and then was projecting outward. Problem now solved, thank goodness!
