Best video/workout for new(again)bie?

I'm a female, in my 30's. I've been down the diet/exercise road before. Had some success - but, like a lot of people, maintenance is my downfall.

I'm having more trouble this time with weight loss. I seem to have to starve myself to see the numbers move and when they do, it doesn't stay down for long. Part of it I have to own up to and the other part I have to admit that I am older that I once was and ... it is just going to be harder.

I have young children with a lot of activities to manage so a gym is not an option right now.

Alllll that junk to ask, what is a good workout (preferably a video I can snag at Walmart) to jump back into this again? I am contemplating ordering a set of variable weights and start lifting too. I, mentally, need to see the scale move initially though.

The best video is the one that you will enjoy doing. Sorry, that's not much help.

I've tried so many....found DVDs I hated & DVDs I liked. Do you have a local library? Can you test drive workout videos on YouTube? This will help you narrow down what you like to do. JessicaSmithTV is a favorite on-line workout channel of mine.

This is a Wal-Mart DVD that I liked (it's just cardio though). But I know people that dislike Leslie (she's chatty....but a DVD gives you a music only option). Video clips: http://www.collagevideo.com/products/leslie-sansone-walking-off-the-pounds

For strength training I like Kelly Coffey Meyer (not at Wal-Mart)......but this site has video clips & reviews too

Fat loss is a slow process, so your expectations may be the problem. This post explains more about plateaus :+1:

I've enjoyed Leslie Sansone's walk at home videos. No difficult choreography for those of us who aren't very coordinated. If you don't have a lot of time, you can just do a mile in about 15 minutes. Like TeaBea said, Leslie is chatty, but you can choose the music only option on several of the videos she has.

These are great. And I think you can find her on Youtube as well.

Go on youtube for free!! :) (or i'm sure you could buy a copy too)
Crunch Fat Burning Pilates with Ellen Barrett is great. Helped get me back into shape after both babies.
Crunch Pilates Burn and Firm is good too... also Ellen Barrett
Most of the routine is standing.
Ellen Barrett Fat Burning Fusion is good also.
Just some ideas. I like her stuff. Low impact as I have issues, but great workouts in my opinion.
    Good luck.
