Hello,

My name is Jess and I am 29 years old. Since I left high school, 11 years ago, I have been packing on the pounds yearly. I used to find it difficult to exercise because my asthma was so out of control. This is the first year since I was a child, that I can actually run up a flight of stairs and not feel like I am going to pass out from an asthma attack. Anyways, since I was able to manage my asthma successfully and am able to exercise more without the fear of ending up in the ER, I decided that it would be a good time to lose some of the extra fluff I have.

So now is the tricky part -- sticking with a healthier diet and exercising more. I have signed up for this site before and just gave up. But now I am hoping that I can connect with some people here that will help me to do this.

Looking forward to meeting some of you and hope you all have a super awesome day!

Well you have taken a great first step by deciding to fight, that is half the battle. All we need to do now is stay dedicated and focused, it is really easy after you get into routine. I would advice to try and plan ahead a little and try to make your exercise and diet something that isn't going to be difficult to do. Set your exercise time up on a schedule and stick to it, have your family and friends respect that time and leave you be. Make ready made snacks and plan your meals in advance. With our busy life's it is hard to eat healthy last minute. Stay away from the Super-size Me Mafia, the take no prisoners. You can add me as a friend, I try to help when I can, I will also chew your butt if I see you slipping. It sucks at first but after it becomes routine you almost can't go without it. Good Luck!

Here is my advice to stick with it.. I have done this for over a year now. I have not once stopped OR binged OR anything of the sort. OH don't get me wrong I have had high calorie days during a 4 day holiday at the sea side. BUT I was also walking A LOT!! Got a bit off topic there. My advice is this. Do not call it a "diet", it is a lifestyle change. Do not deny yourself ANYTHING. Just try to have more healthier foods but do not deny yourself those occasional treats. Work it into your calories for the day. For me all things in moderation worked. Weigh and measure portions etc. Keep to portion control. If the only exercise you can do is walking then start off with that 30 mins a day and build up form there. I started walking indoors for 40 mins a day until I got used to moving then started EA Active sports. I ditched that for walking 60 minutes a day outdoors. I am now at 90 mins a day 4 times a week with jogging thrown in here and there. I hope this advice helps you to stick with it and GOOD LUCK!!

Good Luck, as far as asthma, this site, along with the exercise, has done more for my asthma than any medication that I have ever taken. When I started, I was on multiple inhalers, oral steroids, etc. I now take a singulair once a day. Best of Luck to You, Lynn:smile:

    Hi Everyone

My name is Sapna and joined this site about three months ago with the hope to keep an eye on what I am eating and what I dod all day long. Fortunately, it gave me an insight that I must change my food habits if I want to achieve my goals. But the tricky question is - HOW?? I also joined Curves (the women only gym), but unfortunaley no result is weight loss because I end up eating whatever is available. And to make deiting more difficult, I am a vegetarian.

Can someone give any tips and support on how to stop "pleasure eating"?

Thank you so much in advance.

    Sapna
