Hi, I am new here too. I have had a MFP account for years but didn't use it until a few days ago.8
-
I had an older account, but I just wanted a totally fresh start. I sent you a request!5
-
Go for it! Get your kids involved, keep you motivated4
-
Thanks! Its just difficult to stop emotional eating and over indulging, but thats why MFP is so helpful.8

I am a 39 year old stay at home mom of a 4 year old boy and a three year old girl, I have two older children that live with my mom 15 & 8. I am to an emotional eater and binge eater. I started in January and have l lost 87 pounds so far.
My things that helped me a lot is I quit drinking pop not even diet. I also clean a lot. I took to cleaning as my emotional release instead of eating. I still have binges but not like before.
A little tip I would also give you is if you can go to your doctor and get a fasting blood panel done. I did and it turns out that I was low in vitamin D. Being low in something can make it harder to lose and cause you to crave crazy things. Plus in a year when they redo it and you see your numbers get better it's a great Non Scale Victory.19 -
You can feel free to add me, mfp has sure made me more conscious about when I'm about to start eating emotional or just binge eating out of boredom. Some foods seem to lead to eating bad foods. It takes a week or more of clean eating to break the addiction. Why not start by eating only foods found in nature. Do not initially limit the quantity you eat, just limit the categories of food you eat. You can have unlimited fruit, salad, meat, milk or cheese, just no manufactured foods like donuts or hot dogs. If you are truly motivated, after about a week your cravings will decrease and you will be able to move to a more healthy diet. Good luck!16

@fuzzydogpa you know it's awesome that you found your thing and you don't have much to lose. It's awesome that you understand how YOUR body works and what works for you. But not everyone can eat the way you do. If I eat high fat I am laying in the floor with pain. I can't go over 20 grams of fat a day. Every body is different. That is why there is so many food choices out there. Yes some are better than others. We get in trouble when we label foods as bad and good. What if there was no off limit foods? No one would ever feel the need to 'cheat'.
I have a daily calorie limit If something I want fits in those calories I eat it, if not I don't. I also have days where I do go over, I binge. You know that is ok to. I start over the next day. I have lost 89 pounds since January and will continue to lose. I will always have to watch what I eat because that is who I am.13 -
I am new here and trying to find my plan! Add me! Let's be friends!4

Added you!1

I'm not new to mfp, but I've never done this because I felt counting calories and exercising would work. Now I don't have much support at home, want to lose 45lbs, and am having a hard time doing it on my own now. I need friends to help me keep going and support me. I think that helps everbody.
I'm 37 stay at home mother of 4. I'm the only one doing this right now so it's real hard because there is so much temptation.5 -
I been here a while, lost some weight, log in everyday (260 day streak) I am currently training for a half marathon. Feel free to add4
-
I have a total of over 100lbs to lose if I look at what my parents want. (I'm 62) I just want to get below 200lbs, could use all the support I can get. I am disabled, cooking is a challenge. Therefore we eat out a lot. Making dieting close to impossible.3

Hi1

Why hasn't all my comment shown above??? Grrrr lol1

Hi... ok I'll write it a second time as the first time it didn't show up lol. I've got alot of weight to lose too, ideally I'd like to lose about 5stone... I've been lucky enough to have won £300 free personal training at my gym which I am thankful for as it's gave me alot more confidence in going the gym, knowing what to do and how to use the equipment and someone to push me along when I'm struggling. My PTer is great and supportive so it makes it alot easier. They introduced me to this to keep track of what I eat, log and then look back and see if anything needs to be changed. Apparently I wasn't eating enough? I now have regular meals (as much as I can) a good breakfast and protein shakes, so I always feel full. I didn't think I'd lose weight, but today I've weighed myself and I've lost 5lb in less than 2 weeks.its good to have support on here too and speak to people who have the same goals.... it's sometimes hard with working full time and having 2 kids but it's all worth it. Hope you reach your goal5
-
Hey! I am 23 also. SAH mom of a little boy. I'm trying to lose at least 30lbs by january, but my total goal is 60 lbs. I would love to have people go help me stay motivated and that I can motivate also!3

Most people who eat due to being hungry a lot are insulin resistant. And I know it sounds counter intuitive but you have to eat fat to lose the fat while restricting your carbs. Carbs drive up insulin and it is the fat storage hormone. So if you are binge eating then do it on foods that won't drive up insulin. Chose pickles or olives or meats and cheeses. Avoid sugar and limit fruits to only berries until you reach your goal. Eat lots of non-starchy veggies. No flour, no pasta, no sugar, no rice, no oatmeal, no potatoes, no grains or cereal. You can make a low carb cereal by taking coconut flakes, walnuts, sesame and flax seeds, almonds and sprinkling them with cinnamon and some vanilla and stevia and toasting it in an oven and then storing that for use in place of cereal. You can substitute steamed grated cauliflower in recipes calling for potatoes or rice or use spiral cut zucchini instead of pasta or use spaghetti squash or miracle noodles or miracle rice. You look at how you are eating and where the carbs are coming from and you simply substitute the carbs with low carb replacements. Also do some weight training so that you don't burn up muscle while losing body fat. Retaining your muscle will keep your metabolism from decreasing and give you a leaner look as the fat burns off. Don't pay attention to the scale as a pound of muscle is very condensed on your body whereas a pound of fat takes up a large volume on your body. So losing a 10 lbs of fat will look drastically different than losing 10 lbs of muscle. Just take an article of clothing that is tight and keep trying it on until it fits well and then gets looser and then just keep doing that with some article of clothing. That is a better way to judge your progress and stay motivated. Water retention can cause our weight to fluctuate +5 /- 5 lbs daily which an be discouraging if seeking validation from a scale. I also put pics on my fridge of what I want my body to look like and every time I think about opening the fridge or the pantry and mindlessly snacking I look at the pics. If you have to snack then do it on deviled eggs, or pickles, or meat and cheese or celery. Some good recipe websites are I breath I'm hungry, Peace Love and low carb, and All Day I Dream About Food. Hope this helps some of you.
The bolded is the only part of this post that is universally valid, especially for women.
As to the LCHF (Low Carb, High Fat) diet that is being touted in the above post as the route to success, LCHF is only ONE way of perhaps attaining your goals, but it is certainly not the ONLY (and in a lot of cases, not even the best) way to achieve this.
A restrictive diet such as this, which places foods in categories that are either good or bad, is neither necessary nor sustainable for most people. Losing weight really boils down to a very simple premise: Eat less, move more. However you decide to achieve that is entirely up to you.
Sugar is not evil. Potatoes are not the devil. You absolutely CAN lose weight while still eating the foods you love. It's a question of moderation rather than elimination.13 -

Hello! I have had this account for years and had great success until my husband passed away then it went to hell. Today is day 1 of my new life. I have 10 kids, 8 still at home all are in school so now there is time for me! I really would like friends and encouragement too3

Another tip - get 7-8hrs of sleep. Lack of sleep amps up your stress hormone making you hungrier studies show.1

Thank you so much for this post. That is why so many people fail I believe because they are taught food are bad or good. When I started eight months ago I got so confused I had to stay off the message board. I had people tell me I wasn't eating enough, too much, I needed low carb no wait high carb. I came close to quiting. Thankfully I just stuck to what works for me.
Calories in and out. That is what I did. I ate only serving size and moved more. I also switched only to water. I try to follow IIFYM but until my gallbladder is out I am stuck with low fat. I also do Intermittent Fasting.
In my journey I found myself and what works for me. @SavannahJJ93 find what works for you and you will lose weight.1 -
Feel free to add me. I'm not sure how to add people2
