Amenorrhea and stomach problems.

I'm sick and tired of having these stupid stomach problems. I'm always taking enzymes and probiotics to help with digestion and bloatness but I feel like they are no longer working. I haven't had a period in over a year now but my doctor gave me some pills to help me get it back but I'm a little skeptical about taking them. I'm trying to reach my goal weight but so far nothing is working because of my stomach problems and I don't know what to do. Can Amenorrhea be the cause of my stomach problems? After a severe weight loss and not having a period for a long time be the cause? I gained a lot of weight over the year now to get back to a healthy weight. I been stuck around 116-118 and want to be back to 110 but I just been stuck. I changed my diet and workout but nothing works. If I take these pills and get my period back, will that also fix my stomach problems? I just don't know if it's the hormones that cause constant bloatness and retention but I'm tired of it and feel so body shy that I have to always wear a jacket. I could really use some answers and I just want to reach my target but also feel good at the same time.

Is your doctor working with you on your stomach problems?1

I'm not trying to scare you but has your obgyn done blood tests to check blood cell counts, a1c, liver, hormones etc? And have they done an ultrasound to look for cysts or other abnormalities? The symptoms you are describing could be something completely unrelated to weightloss like pcos, endometriosis, or even uterine cancer. I wouldnt start popping a pill unless those conditions were ruled out.1

You need to talk to your doctor about your medical concerns. The users in this community are not medical professionals, nor would any actual medical professional be able to ethically give advice over the internet. All the questions you are asking are questions for your doctor.2

This is an ongoing problem for you. Take the medication like the doctor prescribed. You need help and coming here week after week tells me that you have an eating disorder that no one here can help you with. Hugs. Get help!1 -
I'm suppose to have an ultisound to see if everything is fine but my mom wants me to go ahead and take the pills. They are Medroxyprogesters but I'm still skeptical about them. I need a period but I also want my digestion fixed. My mom believes if I got my period back, it will fix that but what does my period have to do with my stomach and digestion? It's confusing. She is a nurse but its still confusing.0

Listen to your mom and your doctor!2

Your period and hormones have a huge influence on your stomach! Hormones cause bloating, nausea, hunger, diarrhea and more. They can even cause or prohibited it weight loss or gain. You gotta get them in check. Since you already have the ultrasound scheduled follow the doctors orders and take the pills. It sounds like they're on top of it and doing what they should be. Your doctor's can't help you fix this problem if you're unwilling to follow their advice.0

This. You've put your body through so much with your disordered patterns that you need to listen to the ones who can help you.0 -
Well I'll take them, I just hope they can fix my stomach problems too because I always feel horrible. I feel like my food has trouble digesting, always retaining, bloated, and it's s uncomfortable. I hope they work because I'm nervous.0

It's normal to feel nervous and with every prescription drug there are bound to be some side effects and it will take a while for you to see results. Don't let that stop you from getting your health in check. If you have concerns about changes you feel after taking the pills call your doctor and they can help you. That's what they are there for0

You should talk to your doctor.
Members of this community mean well but don't know your whole back story so the advice they offer may not be good even though they mean well
Instead you should call your doctor and speak to your treatment team about your concerns0 -
I'm not sure it's a good idea to lose weight at the moment since you worked hard to get to a healthy weight.0

It's a better idea to call a doctor And not seek advice on the internet1 -

I come from a big medical family. Hormones affect periods or lack of them. Drugs, the same. It seems as if you need a good over all check up to determine the cause of your distresses. Good advice above to see a dr. Good luck!0

I had the exact same thing as you. Turned out to be stress plus dieting/ low body weight. had all my levels tested etc. and I wasn't producing enough progesterone to cause a bleed, plus the stress was causing constipation and bloating.
I was offered pills but I have a family history of hormonal supplements causing tumours so I declined. The doctor said that no period was not a health issue, so not to worry.
I got my period back and my stomach issues have lessened by regaining some weight and doing more to manage my stress. Stressing out over my health was in fact just making it worse.0 -
Have a frank discussion with your doctor, walk in with a written list of all your questions and do not leave till you feel happy with his answers.
In the meantime, take your meds as he's the medical professional here.0
