So I have been on mfp for a couple years now. I have lost 40 pounds....but gained 10 of them back. My doctor told me to lose at least 10, but I would like to lose 15 to 20. I just can't seem to do it. I do good all week, then I over eat on the weekend. I have been walking on and off - I know I need to do that regularly. I adjusted my calories because I was reading eating to few calories isn't good(I adjusted to 1400). Any suggestions? Thanks so much

Sticking to a calorie deficit is what matters for weight loss. How long have you been eating 1400 calories consistently? What do you mean by "do good"?0

if you know you eat more on weekends try to mitigate that damage by "banking" maybe 50-100 calories per day during the week to use at the weekend. Also adjust your thinking from "I always fail at weekends" to, "what smarter choices can I make and still enjoy myself".
Weight loss doesn't need to feel like punishment. And yes, move more, then you can eat more!2 -
Thank you so much. I guess it seemed so "easy" last time...and now I'm struggling Thanks again and have a great day!!0

My suggestion would be to lighten up a little more during the week since you like to eat more on the weekends. I'd also suggest adding more exercise, being more consistent with it and doing more than just walking. Exercise is so important for older women. Add in some type of resistance exercise to prevent muscle and bone loss. This will also help with a calorie deficit for weight loss.1

I also think looking at calories as a weekly allowance helps make the process less restrictive and so helps adherence.
You could also get more weekend calories by "earning" them through exercise perhaps? Make the weekends when you walk a longer distance.
Maybe change your mind-set a little that enjoying yourself more at the weekend isn't synonymous with eating more? "Treat meals" can be high quality, high taste without having to be high calorie.

It happens. Did you lose that first 40 pounds in a healthy way, meaning just by eating a deficit? If so, you know what to do.0 -
I agree 1000% you don't have to look at your calories on a daily basis. Bank some to have extra on the weekend, just keep yourself in an overall deficit. Also any exercise you can even if it's only getting you 100 calories a day will add up over time. stick with it you can do it!0
