Caloric Deficit

Hi, I've began to use mfp agai to get rid of the rest of my fat and I've been losing 1.5-2 lbs a week by doing cardio. I've been eating back my exercise calories too. This usually puts me around 2500-3000 calories of food a day and I was wondering if it's be unhealthy to just cut down to eating 2000 a day.

I would not go above 1.5-2lbs a week if I were you, but that's just me. The faster you lose the less chance your skin has a chance to conform to your new body shape. You'll end up burning muscle and be left with a ton of loose skin. The first six months of my diet with MFP I set myself at 2lbs per week loss and did not eat back my exercise calories (which were up to 1k a day). What happened was I lost 2-4lb per week for a while and what little muscle I had, and I ended up injured and had to back track. Put yourself at a deficit you feel you can handle, but watch the loss, if you're loosing more than 2lb a week you may want to increase your calories. If you use MFP to calculate your deficit then you are expected to eat back your exercise calories (eat back no more than 80% or so, maybe a tad less because it can be over-estimated). If you'd like to have a set calorie goal and do the same exercise each week, go over to IIFYM.com and use their calculator to set a calorie goal based on your daily exercise level, then do the same exercise each day and stop MFP from adding in exercise calories. I, personally don't like doing it that way but you can. I'd rather eat more on days I work out more.

1.5-2 pound a week is a substantial weight loss. You would not really want to go higher than that, so I would keep doing what you are doing.

No to a more aggressive weight loss. First you are losing, and at rate this sustainable. If you are getting plenty of protein along with the exercise you are doing at the 1.5 to 2.0 pounds you are loosing fat with minimal muscle loos.

More aggressive approach will entail your weight loss not only including fat and water, but muscle too. Don't do that! :)

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I'll take it and keep going at the pace I'm going right now.

For sure hang right where you are. That's a great pace for weight loss, so eat as much as you can to maintain that pace. You'll get there. Just give it time. Keep on kicking butt!
