No weight loss!!!!!

help! when I started MFP 3 weeks ago, I entered that I wanted to lose 1 1/2 pounds per week, which gave me 1270 calories a day. I got used to eating that much, but I'm not seeing any change on the scale. I'm starting to get frustrated so I changed my goals to the recommended 1 pound per week. This bumped me up to 1500 calories per day.
Am I not seeing a change in weight, because I'm not eating enough? Does the 1500 calories seem more reasonable? I've been reading about how if you don't eat enough, your body will go into that starvation mode and I'm afraid that's what I'm doing by only eating 1270 a day. I exercise atleast 3 times a week, so I was shocked to not see the scale budge! I think I'm going to try the 1500 and see if that changes anything.

I have been eating the 1200 that MFP gave me...and its been hard to eat that much... but i have slowly been loosing.. 1-2 lbs per week... have you tried 6 small meals?0

Make sure you are entering your workouts and eating those calories as well. 1270 sounds too low if you are working out.

When I first started I noticed that the scale wasn't showing any loss for about a month. After that I started noticing weekly weight loss. When you exercise be sure to eat your exercise calories, or at least some of them. If you keep sticking to your calories, and exercising you should start to notice. Try doing your measurements and see if you notice loss there. Or put on those jeans that used to fit a little too snuggly and see how they feel now. The scale is a deceptive little beast sometimes. Try to make sure to watch your sodium intake, too. It can definitely make you retain water. Oh...and, speaking of water, make sure you drink enough water every day!0

Yes, you need to eat back most of the "burned" calories. If you are burning 400 calories at the gym; and then only eating 1200 calories at home, you are only eating 800 calories/day; a caloric deficit.0

im eating 1200 calories and lose between 1 and 2 pounds a week. I think eating more smaller meals rather than 3 big ones.0

I agree with Kristie! I didn't notice a weight loss for at least 3 weeks, maybe 4 - and I was doing everything right! (healthy food, 1200 calories a day, lots of water, low salt, and exercise) We're just all so different - but finally - it started coming off!! Now I am way more motivated! :happy:
My advice? Just be patient and stick with it! Make sure you're drinking enough water and not eating too much salt. (already been said) Maybe try upping your workouts from 3 a week to 4 or 5??? (if you can . . .) Kick it up a notch! :laugh:0 -

Thank you all so much! I'm entering my workout, but not watching the salt. SO maybe I need to start doing that. Thanks again for all the advice!0
