Saddlebags and different fat consistencies???

Ever since puberty, I've had that typical "hips are the widest point/saddlebag" look. It flattens and widens out my butt, which would look great if not for the saddlebags pushing it outwards. I'm mostly okay with this, since sometimes it even looks GOOD in the right clothes (hello curves) and I've lost 20lbs slowly but surely (15-20 more to go but hey).
Anyways, I gain most of my weight in my lower body and legs but I've noticed that the saddlebag fat on my outer hips is a different consistency? When I look at my hips in the mirror it's almost like there's a faint oval-ish outline right where that trouble spot is. When i sit cross-legged there's a crease where the saddlebag fat pad meets my normal thigh squish. And it also feels much firmer than the rest of my fat.
Anybody know exactly what causes this or how to soften it? I figure it's just been there the longest (hormonal weight gain starting at puberty) and therefore has had less circulation and firmed up? I don't know, it's just weird and unpleasant and I know it's going to hang on to the very end and be the last place I lose fat from.

I think weight lifting or strength training would help you. It's definitely made a difference in the way my thighs look0

I have no advice or answers for you but I know exactly what you are talking about. I am hoping that it will go as I am nearing my desired goal weight.0

I also know what you're talking about. I've got saddlebags, and they seem to be firmer than thigh fat, butt fat, or anything close to them. But mine seem to be relatively new - I think a result of losing weight without much exercise. I've started walking on an inclined treadmill to see if I can't smooth out the butt/thigh/hip area as I continue to lose weight. I like my wide hips, but I want them, not saddlebags, to be my widest point!0
