Anyone have any good recipe ideas for cutting down carbs and sodium? Carbs usually take up about 50% (usually a little more) of my diet. I'd like to get that down to around 25% Only problem is I don't have a lot in my food budget or a lot of time to cook several different things. Hoping someone might have some good casserole recipes or something. It'd also be nice to cut down on my sodium I'm always over my goal, and my blood pressure is getting up there.

Try an inexpensive protein based meal. You can slow roast a whole chicken, eat a breast at dinner, and shred the rest for other meals. Lunch might be a soup.

Low salt is easy if you are doing the cooking. Simply skip the salt. Use onion, garlic, and pepper for zest.

I have been replacing most of my noodle aode dishes with veggies. At first my boyfriend and I were not confident about it, but it's worked out well! I'm very surprised with the variety of sides you can do and how simple cooked veggies can taste delicious! Oh and I can't get over how I feel more full and don't eat as much because I'm not eating empty calories. If you find yourself still hungry after meals start to drink a glass of water and eat an apple before your meal. I have a pintrest board just for food and always go on it for quick access for dinner ideas.

This!!! Whole chickens are my favorite. I also like to snack on hard boiled eggs and string cheese.

25% is very low. You can try that but chances are it'll make you fatigued and irritable so not sure why you'd want to. Don't know if you actively exercise but at 25% carb it'd be hard to sustain a workout.

I mean if you want to try it okay but for the vast majority of people they'd feel pretty crummy eating like that.

Could emphasize proteins. Quinoa over rice or just use beans instead. Lots of meat. Lentils for a pasta substitute. For beans wither soak them dry or if canned get low sodium canned beans.

Check out skinnytaste and hungry girl websites for recipe ideas. Google has quickly become my friend. And I love my crock pot! Frozen chicken, Italian dressing, and 6 hours. It's amazing.

For lowering sodium sensitive blood pressure, I make my own condiments and seasonings and omit or cut down the salt.
