I did power yoga day before and next day I couldn't do any exercise as I was feeling down but this morning I woke up with Sore back and pain in my rib muscles... I think I won't be able to walk my miles as well ... should I give up for few days until I get better or should I do light yoga avoiding this pain... what's the wise thing to do? Any experience
I'm new to all these workouts and yoga thingy

A lot of it depends on they type of pain. Based on what you wrote, it appears you have delayed onset muscle syndrome (DOMS). I'd try to keep mildly active (active rest) and see if the pain subsides in a day or two. If it doesn't, you may have an injury that will require more care.

Yes, there is a difference between sore muscles and injury.

I would vote for a nice long walk then some gentle stretching. See if you feel better once you get moving.

fwiw the first time i tried out this plank thing i'd been reading about, i lasted 30 seconds and the next day i was staggered by how tender my intercostals were.

they're the ones that connect your ribs to one another. the proverbial 'muscles you didn't even know that you had'.
