Do you mean that you changed your percentages? It should automatically do it for you. I changed mine to 40%, 40%, 20% and my calories stayed the same.0

If you are doing cardio, DONT DO LOW CARBS!!! You will have no energy and you will skip exercises. Eat eat eat, but eat healthy. You have to jump start your metabolism! Stay away from all types of breads. Eat brown rice - it keeps you in the fat burning mode. Do a google on good carbs and fat burning foods.0

I've played with my ratios too but kept the calories the same. You CAN increase your calories irrespective of ratios, but basically that might be giving you more than you need. The two aren't related really, other than the composition of how you make up your calories.0

getting 205 g of protein on 1200 calories is going to be quite a challenge. each gram of protein is 4 calories straight-up so 820 of your daily calories would be allotted for protein alone. 380 calories for everything else would seem virtually impossible to me.0

On what logic do you say stay away from all types of bread, but allow other whole grains? Check out sprouted grain brewed, or even breads made with brown rice flour. Sorry to be snippy, but blanket statements like that bother me. Moderation!0

Keep calories stay the same!
A surplus of calories of any type more than your body uses for fuel will lead to weight gain.
People doing Atkins sometimes don't realize that just because they are doing low carb, doesn't mean they can go over their caloric needs and eat a package of Bacon a day!
Another caution: On Atkins, the first few pounds are water weight which promplty return upon eating carbs for fuel. Trust me, been there.0 -
To me, as long as your carbs are low calories don't matter nearly as much so you can have more calories if you need them and your carbs are healthy carbs. My rule of thumb is to listen to your body and if you're hungry, EAT!0

thanks for the replies
i am new to low carb - maybe my carbs are set to low?0 -
Depends how low you wanna go. Low carb (Atkins intro phase) is 30g net. (deduct fibre from total carb intake). I teeter around that, though a little higher at 50g, though don't plan to stay that low forever - maybe up to 100g. Everyone's different and does it differently for different reasons. My ratios are 40/40/20 but I'm getting nowhere near that in fat or carbs. I'm still finding my feet too, but it's working so don't plan on 'fixing' it yet :O)0

Is this stuff low carb then? Where do I find it?0 -

bread* sprouted grain bread! grrr autocorrect.
My loaf is 15 carbs per slice, with 3 grams of fiber... So 12 net carbs. Depends on how low you consider low carb, but in my book, as a 40/40/20 er, it's really low. Also sprouted grains have a much lower glycemic impact, which is the goal of a low carb diets. Brown rice, for the record, has more than twice that amount of carbs per serving.
I've never been to a grocery store that doesn't sell it. I KNOW trader joes has a few varieties, and most traditional grocery stores usually carry it. I buy the Ezekiel stuff. It's definitely much heartier than your usual loaf of bread. Try it, and see if you like it.
As far as answering the OP, when I went really low carb for the first phase of P90X, I found it hard to get enough calories... I think the most important part for me was eating regularly, every 3 hrs or so, or else I got really grumpy!0 -
Try the Sara Lee Delightful Multi Grain bread--45 calories per slice, 9 grams of carbs, and five grams of fiber. It's tasty, too. Keeps my blood sugar (I'm daibetic) happy.
