30 Day Shred

I was mentioning that the 30 Day Shred doesn't keep my heart rate up. Today I was doing a Fat Blast cardio session, which alternated between cardio moves and weight training. After reading the description I realized that the workout I was doing was HIIT (high Intensity Interval Training) which burns more calories and fat in a shorter period of time. I believe Jillian's dvd would fall under this category, as well.
The whole purpose behind HIIT is to push your body as well as offer it an opportunity to recover several times throughout the workout.
I still don't understand the benefits of working the same muscle group for ten days straight with no rest. Maybe someone could explain this to me.
Thanks in advance.

I'm surprised to hear that the 30 Day Shred doesn't keep your heart rate up. I used to do it when I was in pretty good shape (running and lifting weights regularly) and it sent mine through the roof during the reps as well as the cardio intervals. I hear you about the wisdom of doing it every day, though. I had to back off it because it was hurting my knees, and if I understand the physiology of weight training, you need at least a day of rest between workouts to let the "micro-tears" in your muscles regenerate new tissue, which is what builds muscle. I found 30 Day Shred extremely effective and efficient, but I wouldn't do it more than three times a week. In between I'd alternate between straight cardio and something stretchy like yoga.0
