How to find motivation when mentally drained

Hello everyone,

I'm technically a part timer but recently my boss opened his own business which has made me into somewhat of a full timer. I'm finding that I come home not physically tired but mentally tired which I find more discouraging for exercising. For the past few days I've been going in to work at 8 some days 9, and come out of work at 6-9! I'm so tired when I get home that I just want to sleep, and for that reason I don't wake up early to exercise because I know it'll be another long day. I think its getting to me because I have never had a draining job before, I like what I do (for now), its just so exhausting.

For those who handle a regular full time, in all in tiring-ness. How do you deal with the fatigue? I started 30 Day Shred Level 2 a few days ago and would love to get back into it. Thanks in advanced

I don't really have a tip for that..it happens to everyone. I just force myself to do it, even if I really don't want to. About 5 minutes into it, I already feel better. When you're not in the mood to workout, put your workout clothes on and think "well, they're already on..may as well do it". It's what I do. Good luck!

I started a new job 2 years ago and while the hours weren't as long as yours, it was more physically demanding than any work I'd done before, and I came home totally drained in the afternoons. What ended up helping me was to PLAN a workout after work and think about it all day. Like I'd wake up in the morning thinking "I'm gonna workout at 6:00 tonight and I'll do 30 minutes on the treadmill before dinner! I rock!" And during the day I'd remind myself frequently (and with as much enthusiasm as possible) that the plan was 30 minutes at 6:00. And I would just force myself...the workouts weren't always as intense as I'd wanted, but it was better than nothing.

What I do now, though, is workout in the mornings, before work. It's super-hard to get into that schedule, but after a couple weeks you'll adjust and it's been a great thing for me. (I leave my house at 7:40 AM for my summer job and most mornings get in a 40-minute workout at the gym before that--it really gets my day off to a good start!)

    Good luck!

Edit: Maybe you could even change into your workout clothes at work right before you leave.

Thanks for the advice! I changed into my exercise clothes even though I feel good and ready to go to sleep and now I do feel a sense of obligation to get off my butt Lol. Thank God the 30 day shred is only 20mins...
