Hi everyone

I have started doing low carb again but this time I am struggling.

I work 12 hour days and I'm struggling for quick meals. I have started eating two Atkins Bars a day and salad for lunch which I know is not great!

I am struggling with meals I can take to work whilst staying at 20g net carbs.

Last time I did low carb I followed the diet for over a year and felt fantastic! I gradually increased my carb intake over the year but once I started back at work after my mat leave I fell off the wagon.

Can anyone help me with recipes and quick easy meals I am currently keeping my calories at 1000 a day.

Also feel free to add me as a friend on here.

Thanks

Since nobody has responded - I will.

1000 calories a day is ridiculous, unless you have a meal plan that has been designed by a doctor and are on a VLCD under supervision you are not getting the nutrients your body needs.

I sincerely hope that nobody on this forum will condone this sort of potentially dangerous and unsustainable eating, set you weight loss goals using MFP or a TDEE calculator and work from there.

I would go for foods that are naturally low carb such as tuna and mayo, a salad with full fat dressing and some eggs, chicken, seeds or avocado, or pepperoni and cheese, or a handful of nuts. Leftovers are easy too. Eggs, meat and veggie, soup, whatever. Just skip the stuff made from flour like noodles or baked goods, tropical fruits and some of the starchy root vegetables.

And a 1000kcal per day is pretty low.

1000caliries is way low. Women are recommended to go to a minimum of 1200. Depending on how much you have to lose you may even be allowed more. I would go for nutrient dense food like nvmomketo suggested and plenty of good fats. I love good cheeses, Kind bars, chicken cooked any number of ways or in salads, green veggies,I do pizza topping casseroles (everything in a dish without the crust), when I do spaghetti for my oldest, I just eat my meatballs with the sauce, my youngest eats them on a sub, stir frys are awesome and so are curries (I eat mine in a bowl without the rice). For an end of day treat if I am needing fats my go to are either good cheese or a root beer float (diet root beer with heavy cream=pure fat).

I do low carb due to PCOS. My breakfast is eggs, low sodium bacon/slice of breakfast ham. Lunch is usually a string cheese or hard boiled egg. Dinner is usually a lean meat with veggie.

When we do something like spaghetti, I sub the pasta for zucchini noodles.

1000 cal is way too low for a female to eat. I don't know your stats, but I'm losing great eating between 1400-1500 calories.

First of all: 1000 calories to far too low. There is no need to be eating so little and you'll make yourself ill.
Second of all, make sure your 'diet plan' is going to work around your lifestyle. Is a very low carb diet plan going to suit your work life? Can you make this work without becoming overly stressed about what you can and cannot eat?

Low carb works for many people here - but it isn't the only choice you have. Yes, it may have worked for you in the past but sometimes just a healthy balanced plan can work just as well (if not better). And can make life a whole lot easier you when it comes to meal planning and work life.

If however, low carb is the route you want to go - I'm sure if you check out the Recipe section of the forum, you'll find a load of quick lunch ideas that you can prepare in the evenings to take with you in a lunch box. Otherwise, there is a separate forum here for Low Carb I believe.

Good luck reaching your goals :)
