I'm tired of soya sauce for my stir fry.......what else can I use that isn't high in calories....TY

I switched from soy sauce to marinades. I have two that I like. Kroger brand Sesame Ginger with mandarin orange juice marinade at 35 calories per TBS. My favorite is Lawry's Sweet Asian BBQ marinade at 24 calories per TBS. I just add them to my stir fry as I would soy sauce.

For stir-fry I tend to use a blend of lite soy sauce, hoisin sauce and hot chili paste [equal amounts]. The soy is salty, the hoisin a bit sweet and the chili paste adds a savory flavor.

For fried rice I use a blend of lite soy sauce, oyster sauce and hot chili paste.

I tend to hit the dry spices for stir fries rather than sauces--starting with garlic powder!

I tend to start by sauteeing onions and mushrooms with garlic powder. These veggies typically need to cook longer, and sweat out water as they cook, which the garlic powder absorbs.

By this type the onions are clear and the mushrooms are nice and soft, I can add the rest of my veggies, and then take my pick from the following:
* italian spice blend (sometimes adding some tomato sauce)
* curry spices (a favorite--especially with cauliflower and carrots!)
* southwestern mexican spices (chile powder, cumin, taco spicing--only without the meat)
