I used to be able to lookup the nutritional information of foods in the android app. It used to go out and search a fairly extensive database and even had information of different brands and stores. Now I cannot find it on the app anymore. I can go to my recipes and foods but there is no food database search anymore. It wants me to input all the information manually.

Did they remove it from the app?

I have no idea. I have an Android phone and I haven't noticed any differences.

Same here with no change. Might depend on your version/Phone though. My phone is the BlackBerry Priv.

Are you connected too the internet? Only time I can't find foods I have a bad connection or no connection. My android is working fine today.

Not sure what "food search" function you're talking about.

To find a specific food, just go into your diary for any day, select a meal and press the add food "+" button and enter the food you want, hit the search magnifying glass icon and all the foods w/the same name will come up.

That's the only "food search" function that I know of and I'm using a Samsung S5.
