Right so on 11th August I weighed in at 11 stone 3 (look up pounds if needs be) I have not been sticking to plan but I have for the past three days and plan to keep doing so. I did two days aiming for a pound loss and yesterday for half a pound loss which I am going to keep aiming for. Today I weighed in at 11 stone 5.5 which im devastated about. My question is if I eat 1570 calories a day, enough for me to lose half a pound, will this cause me to gain weight ? Have I gained weight in three days? Really feeling stressed out and paranoid I'm 5'4 so this isn't good for me and I'm feeling really fat

If 1520 is the amount MFP gave you according to your stats to lose .5 a week, then you will lose weight and NOT gain.

Have you considered normal day to day fluctuations on the scale? Have you considered having a little bit of patience and actually start trending your weight over a longer period of time after you have been "sticking to the plan" for at least 3 - 4 weeks?

Yes that's what your bathroom scales are telling you - but remember weight gain/loss/fluctuations are not just fat.
Obviously you haven't eaten in a huge surplus to gain that amount of fat.
Maybe your first weigh in was at a low point, maybe your second was at a high point?

You are in for a very hard ride if you expect weight loss to be linear and your body to not have perfectly natural weight fluctuations. Think at least weeks if not months to get a sense of perspective.

"Devastated", "Stressed out", "Paranoid" really aren't appropriate responses to results over three days!

On Sunday I probably had a 1000+ calorie deficit, Monday morning up two pounds, Tuesday morning down two pounds. Just normal short term fluctuations.

It's been three days! You need to give it more time. The weight you seem to have gained could be water retention, food still in your digestive system.

^^This! It is normal for your weight to fluctuate regularly, with all sorts of reasons behind it. You need to learn not to be devastated by numbers on a scale or your setting yourself up to fail before you begin. The problem is we all want weight loss to happen quickly, but it doesn't. As you say, you've only been following the plan for 3 days.

I weigh myself every morning, and I track the trends in my weight. I've found this to be really helpful, I can see the trend in loss goes downwards even if I've out on half a pound, and it took the pressure off a weekly "weigh in" but I would only recommend that if you don't stress about the number too much.

    My suggestions would be:
Drink plenty of water EVERY day
Log all your food, and weigh everything - get a food scale if you haven't already
Get a body tape measure if the scales are going to be too stressful
Most importantly - be patient and don't be too hard on yourself.

Good luck, I hope you feel better about this and keep going!

you gained the weight between 11th august and 3 days ago... you need a consistent deficit for longer than 3 days to see your weight go down...

It can sometimes take up to 2 weeks for fat loss to actually show itself on the scale, with water retention the main cause of this.
Be patient, relax a bit and it will happen.

If you're accurately tracking and still aren't loosing weight, then consider lowering calories or increasing activity/exercise.

August 11th you weighed 157 lbs or September 11th you weighed 157 lbs? Today you weigh 159.5 lbs?
You weighed on the same scale under the same conditions? Is your period or ovulation time approaching? Have you been eating high sodium foods? Have you started new exercise this week?

You have only been eating at a deficit 3 days now. You could be retaining water from something. It could be a normal fluctuation for you. Don't be devastated after only 3 days and 3 lbs. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10084670/it-is-unlikely-that-you-will-lose-weight-consistently-i-e-weight-loss-is-not-linear/p1

Wait longer and be patient to see results. If you don't lose any weight after a couple of weeks of eating at deficit your goal may be too high or you are not being accurate.

Log as accurately as you can. Use a food scale. Check that you are using correct entries. Log everything- cooking oils, fruit, vegetables, condiments, drinks.

Are you logging exercise and eating exercise calories? A lot of people only eat half of their exercise calories to compensate for overestimated burns.
What is your daily activity level before any exercise? If you are active you can lose on 1570. If you are actually sedentary that may be a little high.
