How can I see 'friends' postings?

New to this. Have befriended some people but can't figure out how to view their postings? Is it just random? Or is there somewhere specific on the site where u can communicate with people?

    Just under community it says friends. Go in there touch the friends name you want talk to. Put something on their wall or touch the mail button in the right corner to message them privately.
