Overall food selection should be a balance of filling and tasty. You don't have to eat a specific food or way to lose belly fat. Log your food accurately, that's really the main requirement for food.

Forget the belly, you need to lose fat through calorie deficit. Your body will determine where it loses it. For me the belly was last but it did go. Avoid calorie dense foods like breads, pasta and potatoes. Increase produce and a small portion of lean meat.

Why not? I can make a beer fit my calories even when I'm losing weight. Beer alone isn't going to make you fat or prevent you from losing belly fat.

Breads, pastas, and potatoes can all be filling depending on the person. Potatoes are rich in vitamins and many breads or pastas are vitamin fortified. Nothing wrong with eating them if they fit your calories and tastes.

OP, Beer, and all alcohol drinks, have calories. Be aware of that, log accurately. Once you log your food accurately you will decide for yourself if you want to include alcohol or not.

Losing weight is all about the calorie deficit that you must live in for an extended period of time. In that calorie deficit, you need to consume the nutrients you need to live your life. Most of those nutrients aren't found in alcohol. For that reason, you may find that your need for protein or fat is greater than your need of carbs.

@usmcmp, I can make it fit also, but at 48...as soon as I dropped the beer, the belly started dropping. Nothing else was changed. That is just me though

Sounds like you were drinking enough to put your calories up there. Cutting out habits you believe are negative also tends to result in more positive behaviors, it's a neat psychological concept of self-rewarding behavior. Beer also often causes bloating, which would make your stomach look distended.

If you stopped drinking beer and didn't change your eating habits then you were consuming less overall calories and therefore lost weight. If you stopped drinking beer and replaced those calories with snacks you wouldn't lose weight.

stress is a key indicator of fat accumulation around the torso... reduce stress and get plenty of exercise... IF you want your belly to look better... work on your obliques and what is otherwise known as your core muscles... that won't eliminate the fat... BUT it will reduce your dickydo... that's when your belly sticks out further than your dicky do

Fat accumulation around the torso is an indication that your genetics have selected your abdominal region for fat storage.

Working obliques is actually likely to make the waist larger and appear wider, the OP needs overall core strength and not isolation. Exercises that require stabilization will encourage the appropriate abdominal muscles to engage and will help hold all the internal parts better.

The OP is a female, she doesn't have a penis.
