The winters in Alberta are long and cold. I have been seeking out door sports or activities that are fun and a source of exercise. Living in a small town, REALLY SMALL, there is nothing to do so keeping motivated in -25 to -35 degrees Celsius is difficult. So when spring arrives it is so hard to get back into the active life style. Last winter I bought a Ski-doo and enjoyed it a great deal in the mountains as well as the riding close to home. I did not think of it much but it is a heck of a work out especially deep powder riding. When I went for my first run this spring I was able to run 5km with out too much trouble. As well my cycling went much better on my first ride, even though I did not do either of those activities for at least 8 months prior. The only activity I did last winter was ride the Ski-doo hard, and it helped me stay active. The previous years I remember going for that first run and lasting about half a km, and forget riding the bike!! So for all those who don't think snowmobiling is not much of a exercise (including myself before I bought a machine) It does give you a work out and a half!! As some days after 3-5 hours of aggressive riding felt like a running two marathons ...... not that I ever ran one before, but I would sometimes crawl into the house exhausted after playing in the snow!!

lol...I agree. Snowmobiles, ATV's are the same you'd never think it was exercise until you ride! Glad to see another snowmobiler on here!

I never would have guessed, but that does make sense. That sounds like a perfect exercise, something you want to do anyways that works you out. I wish I had more of those.
