Too much protein?

I am 5'3, down 30 pounds with 9 more to go until goal. I am losing between .4 and 1lb a week on a MFP calorie goal of 1260 per day. I walk 5-7 miles a day and eat back half of my burned calories. While I never set out to be LCHF, I've found that that is the best way for me to lose while staving off hunger and feeling satiated. I haven't paid too much attention to my macros but I do check daily to make sure I am hitting my 25g fiber goal and keep tabs on my fats as tend to use cheese sticks and sometimes peanut butter to snack on in between meals. The closer I get to goal the more I have paid attention to these numbers and have noticed a trend of going over my protein goal almost daily. Sometimes a few grams but often 20-30 grams over sometimes even higher. Is this cause for concern? It's not impeding weight loss and my sources of protein come from a healthy variety of lean cuts, eggs, beans, legumes, whey protein shakes and grains. I just want to make sure that I am looking at my whole picture of health and not just a number on the scale. Any insight would be appreciated. Is too much protein a thing?

What are your macros set to for protein? How many grams are you eating on an average day?

    That's not too high.

If you're using the 20% default, I'd guess your target is around 68g?

So 90-100g consumed isn't an overly extravagant amount and it seems to be working for you, so no massive reason to change what you're doing, really.

Not too high - mine is set at 30% and I regularly get 130 grams.

Bodybuilders eat between 1 to 2 grams of protein per pound of body weight to maintain and fuel muscles. I tend to eat more along the lines of 40% carbs, 20-30% fat and 30-40% protein.

When using MFP numbers I look at the protein goal as a MINIMUM rather than a maximum.

Is there an upper limit that I should be mindful of going forward?

Not realistically, no. Unless, of course, you have a medical issue. In which case, your doctor and/or registered dietician should be guiding you.

I wouldn't worry too much about it.

You could re-set your macros to 30% protein so it doesn't "feel" like you're so far over the target. Just change the target. ;)

Harvard Med and USDA recommend protein to be 10-35% of calories

As others hace said sounds like you're fine.

Personally, I pull in 300-450g on most days. Any real benefit? Probably not. Any detriment? Nope.

Wouldn't every poo be like the Christmas poo?

Konasyl is a beautiful product, and it only takes 6g per day. Psyllium Husk ftw. Mixes amazing with MyProtein Chocolate Mint whey. :)
