The forums motivate me

I realized this last night. By posting in the forums I make the diet I'm on more tangible because I'm talking with other people that are doing the same thing. Also, since I'm on it I'm more likely to post all my food. I usually pre-post because I know mostly what I'm going to eat but if I eat anything extra, I don't always post it.

Another good thing about the forums is I am "building a weight loss tribe". Meaning I have support and support others that are going through what I am. That is very important to weight loss I found. Your friends and family might love you and want you to succeed but if they aren't going through a weight loss journey, they might not fully understand or be able to offer appropriate advice.

I've also read research that is showing that having a community that supports what you are trying to do helps that person accomplish that goal.

I know what you mean. I've been reading and actively participating in these forums for close to a year now, and I'm still finding threads that are useful, interesting, funny.. It's pretty cool.

The social aspect of it is great for me. I love learning what is working and not working for others. I enjoy sharing my own ups and downs. You are so right, your friends and family can be on board with you but it's just not the same as someone who is on the same journey! Anyone is welcome to friend me and I'll do my best to be a really good friend, because that's what I always hope for. Holly

I love all the support and encouragement that I receive as I try to look and feel better, and it's encouraging and motivatimg to read other people's journeys.

82 pounds lost. Why am I seeing success now when I haven't before? I made up my mind that this was going to be done once and for all and the mfp communities have played a huge role in that. I love reading the forums. And you are exactly right....families can support you but unless they're on the same journey, they don't truly understand.
