Hey all. I work in a supermarket, but I do late shifts by the time I get home it's 9.30pm/10pm. My partner cooks me meals ready for when im home but I'm just eating so late at night it's not doing me any good. I only get 10 minute break at work if I'm lucky to get one!. Does anyone have this issue and how do you get around it. I don't like eating carbs at night as I'm not burning it off, feeling sluggish. Thank you.

I work in IT and if there is a project on we tend to work long hours and late at night. The only thing that seems to have worked for me is to switch everything around so I eat a main meal earlier in the day and have a really light meal like soup or porridge in the evening.

The time you eat is irrelevant. Your metabolism doesn't grind to a halt at 11pm. Well, unless you die at 11pm.

Eat when you can and don't exceed your calorie goal.

Also, if you're doing late shifts, does that mean you are getting up later and going to bed later eg 2am? If so, you're not eating late at all.

When I have to work late, I pack my entire day worth of calories into one cooler and just take it with me all day. That way, anytime of the day I can grab anything out of there and don't have to think too much about it. You end up just grazing all day, but it keeps your blood sugar level and makes it simple. If you have a ten minute break, grab a few things out of it. I do all fruits, yogurts, lean deli meats, almonds, some small treats, drinks, etc. This helps me when I'm way too busy to think it through, I can just do that.
