Hello, my name is Jo and I'm just about to be 29 years old. I've struggled with my weight for a very long time now. I was an "okay" weight when I graduated high school in 2006. 5'6" and 150 pounds. I was not fit but I definitely didn't need to worry like I do now.
My weight steadily increased over the next decade. I at one point weighed 230 and decided to get fit. I worked very hard, not counting calories but just eating as well as I could and exercise everyday. I got down to 180. I was feeling amazing and I swore I'd never be over 200 again. Then my depression hit hard and I gained it all back.
Since about 2012 I've been stuck at 230. Despite my efforts to eat better, cut out soda, exercise a bit more I was just stuck! That is until this last week.
My brother used MFP to lose 50 pounds and I swore up and down I didn't need it. But after months of no results he finally inspired me to try it out. So far while tracking my calories I have lost 5 pounds last week! It has been a long time since I've felt this good again. I'm not backing down now.
Just wanted to say hi and give you a little rundown on my experience. Thank you all for being here and I wish you luck in your own journey.

I've been here for a couple years: it works. You may not always see the results you would like week to week, but stick with it! And CONGRATS on your loss so far!1

Hi Jo
Congratulations on a great loss so far! MFP really does work - I was sceptical too when I first started but I've never looked back. You'll have no problem reaching your goals. Wishing you the best of luck!1
