Tips to get back on track

So I hurt my back dead lifting about 3 weeks ago and during that time I've been on vacation. I've done cardio whenever possible but was told to stay out of the gym until I was healed.

I'm feeling good and back in the gym but naturally my diet has fallen off. I'm making progress with getting back on routine but I am struggling. Any advice to get back into the swing especially with diet.

My willpower isn't great right now I'm fully responsible just hoping someone with experience with this could toss some wisdom my way.

Getting off track just happens for what ever reason that is.

Look at this way, you took a break, you got some rest and yes maybe even took a diet break.. This can and is usually a good thing, it gives your mind and body a break! I am sure that you are probably in a better place to get back on track.. Yeah?

You just simply need to buckle back down and start fresh.

Focus on what you want to achieve. Looking forward to a goal (and why it's important to you) is pretty motivating. We can sacrifice for a time if the payoff is good enough. After that, just start taking baby steps towards where you want to be. Give yourself some grace and don't expect to be perfect.

Great advice, I have lost close to 100lb so far that is my first achievable goal is to hit 100lb total loss. I think my big struggle comes from being a stress eater, exercise was my replacement there so I am hoping as soon as I get back into the swing, it falls back into place. I am simply finding now that my diet is weak and as much as I self-motivate I can't seem to hit that level where I can say no to my vice (snack foods)

I'll get there though, if I learned anything it was that attitude is not binary, you really have to work at it.

The break was nice, I let a lot go but didn't go hog wild. I am excited to get back into it and I really should look at this not like a set-back but as a reset.

    Excellent!

discipline over motivation---Get back to the discipline of tracking and measuring and weighing food. Make sure you keep some space for a snack if you need it. I need one in the afternoon so I allow some calories for a snack. I have found for myself that motivation fails me every time. The only thing that keeps me focused is discipline. When I get stuck I have to get some help, as you have, and take those baby steps to get back on track. You can do it....You've done it before to lose those lbs--you can do it again.

A break or reset is definitely the way to view it. And if you didn't let it get too out of hand that's a good sign for your maintenance after you reach your goal.

Would it help to stop buying the snack foods that tempt you? If it's not in the house you can't eat it, after all.
