OK...I'm sorry if this sounds like a really dumb question...but here it goes....
I started the C25K program several weeks ago, and I have finally made it to week 4!! Now my question: The longer I run (started out with 60 second runs and now am up to 5 minute runs) do I burn more calories? The only reason I am asking this is because when I started out I had an HRM, but it is broken because I dropped it and it was one of the cheap watch ones. But I got it because a friend had it and it was really very acurate. Anyway, I was just wondering, because I was always tracking at 350 calories burned because that's what I started out as. Now I am just curious to know if I am burning more since I am jogging longer intervals, but still am out for the same 30 minutes. Thanks!!!

Well you're probably working harder to run longer, so I would guess that you're burning more calories but it's different for everyone. The longer I run, the more I burn.
And it's not a dumb question!0 -
Yes, you will burn more calories the longer you do any cardio exercise.0

I wear my HRM everytime I do a run for c25k (week 6 starts tomorrow!) and I burn a lot more now than I did in week 1. Good for you making it to week 4! Keep it up!0

I'm at week 7 now and find that I burn more or less the same as I did in the earlier weeks. This is because my fitness levels have vastly improved and although I'm running constantly now for 25 minutes, it's less of an effort now. My heartrate would get up to about 185-190 during the early running intervals, but now i run at a HR of 160-175ish. Plus, I've lost weight since I started too. So, yes you may well be burning more, but you should also take into consideration your increased fitness levels...0
