Has anyone had any experiences with the slim fast shakes and what exact one did you use?
I never eat breakfast in the morning because I don't have time and I feel like it makes me hungrier later in the day and it probably effects my metabolism.
Help!!

There's no reason to eat breakfast if you don't want it. It doesn't effect your metabolism, that's an old wives tale. Many people find it makes them eat more through the day.
Slim Fast is also pretty low quality. You'd do better with a decent protein powder, if you want to have something.4 -
Well I think the idea that having breakfast effects metabolism has been exposed as a myth. As for hungrier in the day it could be. I tried slim fast many years ago so I'm sorry I'm not much help with which one tastes best.
As a side note I skip breakfast most days and I kinda like it because I can have more cal for lunch and dinner:).1 -
I'm not hungry in the mornings so I almost never eat breakfast. I honestly usually only have two meals a day. I've lost over 100 lbs since last July. Your metabolism will be just fine without breakfast if you don't want it.0

An overall lack of eating or insufficient calories (etc.) would ultimately effect your metabolism. Easier said than done but... don't sweat the small stuff. If breakfast isn't your thing, no worries. The point is meeting your caloric goals for the day-- Slimfast shakes are just one way of doing that, morning noon or night.2

I did SlimFast for breakfast in college. This was back before they added the "protein" version. I drank the coffee- and strawberry-flavored. To this day I have no idea why I stuck with it for so long. The shakes were chalky and sat weird & heavy in my stomach. They did not keep me full for long. Maybe the formula has improved, but I'll stick with my own breakfast now.1

I would recommend Soylent over Slim Fast any day.
If your looking for a quick, easy meal replacement that has complete nutrition, vegan friendly, low glycemic load, and is only $1.90 per meal - Soylent.com
You are more than likely going to be more hungry and grumpy being in a fasting state. This could lead to over eating later in the day. Your metabolic rate is probably not affected by not eating breakfast. By skipping breakfast your not giving your body and mind the nutrition it needs to function optimally.-1 -
Do you guys know of any good breakfast replacements that aren't high in calorie?0

Protein bar, handful of almonds, yogurt?0

If you just want a protein shake, muscle milk has a good tasting one for like 150 calories iirc0 -
I think they taste pretty good, but maybe that's just me. They have a coffee flavored one that was my favorite.0

The new slim fasts tastes pretty good now. They have a protein smoothie that has 20g of protein and 1g of sugar. It's really good. I always like to add a banana to mine.
I used to be able to stay on it for months and months. In fact, I never ate real food, I only ever reached for a can of slim fast. But now I can only last about 3-5 days, having shakes morning and afternoon. It gets me over that hump of feeling "starving" during that time of day. Then I can go back and eat small meals for breakfast and lunch and I still don't have that starving feeling.
But more than 3-5 days, I just can't do it.1 -

You said you don't like eating breakfast... so don't? Save your calories for when you're hungry2 -

She said she doesn't have time. I'd recommend eating more regularly to increase your metabolism. Increased metabolism obviously helps with weight loss
how do you explain IF then?2 -

Easily - it is in the words. Intermittent is not constant as you are aware. In long term regular food will boost metabolism and in short term some believe IF works
The number of meals you eat and when you eat those meals has no impact on metabolism. There is no metabolic advantage to eating breakfast. Your metabolism doesn't slow down if you skip breakfast.
Not only doesn't the OP not have time, when she does eat breakfast it makes her more hungry. This in turn could lead to her eating more calories than she wants/needs by the end of the day, which could adversely affect results.6 -
I used them in college and lost weight. I replaced two meals most days and would have a TV dinner like a lean cuisine or something for dinner. I dropped like 12lbs in a month. I used it because at that time I was at school like 12 hours a day and really had no time to eat. It was pretty easy.0

I tried the chocolate slim fast powder and it was good, but I got bored of just chocolate. I started using idealshape meal replacement shakes and I like them a lot. Each scoop is 100-110 calories, depending on the flavor and I blend with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and ice. It is my breakfast each morning and it keeps me full for about 4 hours at which time I have my morning snack.
I keep them around if I want something sweet at night as well. I like them just fine for replacing one meal, but I would be unhappy replacing two meals a day with them. I've done it in a pinch, but I have lost weight replacing only 1 meal (and calorie counting of course).
There's a lot of hate for Any meal replacement shakes on here, but it works for me cause I never have time for breakfast and I do get hungry if I don't eat something.
One thing I have noticed with all meal replacement shakes is that if you don't rinse out your blender bottle shortly after drinking, it smells super bad. Slim fast and ideal shakes alike. So gross!
Anyways, good luck! Hope you find something that works for you!2 -

What is the difference between ideal and slim ? Is there a reason you prefer one than the other. Did ideal make you more full?

You would have to google the company. I know the idealshape people have a little chart with the differences between their product and slim fast and shakeology (I tried shakeology - it was expensive and I couldn't handle the taste or graininess).
Honestly I switched to ideal cause they had more flavors. I think i am fuller longer - I always drink a glass of water after the shake as instructed. I think price wise they are comparable - when ideal has sales, you can get a tub for $33 which amounts to less than $1.50/shake.0 -
Just speaking for myself, but I have been dieting,& counting calories using MFP for 18 days, and drinking two shakes a day,and have lost 12 pounds. For me it's working. I drink a shake by itself for Breakfast, for lunch, a shake,a hard boiled egg, cheese stick, celery & carrots, etc, and then I eat a sensible dinner. I am using the High Fiber Slimfasts with 20grams of protein and less sugar, and they hold me over and suppress my appetite well. I'm also drinking lots of water during the day. For me,it's working and I plan to stick to it. One word of advice, take a fiber supplement with it2
