Weight fluctuates.7

Try not to get too scale obsessed - pick a weigh time and just be consistent. Your weight can fluctuate wildly even over the course of a day.4

It's your weight. You're not cheating anything. Up, down, up, down...I wouldn't put too much power on those numbers.3

Not cheating! I weight myself weekly (unless I forget) on Monday morning before eating or drinking. Your weight will fluctuate within a few pounds anyway.1

I weigh 2-5 lbs more each evening in comparison to the mornings. This fluctuation is consistent for me.
Have started paying more attention to how clothes fit than the scale.

Weigh yourself first thing in the morning when you wake up then you don't have to not eat or drink.
You always weigh more later in the day...1 -
You weigh what you weigh, you don't have a "true" weight. If you want to be tracking weight loss or gain as accurately as you can just have a routinue where you weigh yourself at a similar time in your day for added consistancy. I weigh myself in the morning after I get up.
As long as you are consistant in your "cheating" you will still get an accurate trend of up or down over time. If you vary up when you weigh yourself or if you've eaten or drank before or not then you'll introduce extra variation.1 -
Not cheating at all! I weigh myself first thing in the morning stark nekked after using the bathroom because I know it's the lowest weight I'll be at for the next 24 hours. If I think I may have gone up more than a few ounces I weigh with my eyes shut (I have an aria that automatically links to fitbit) and don't look at the numbers until maybe a day or two later when I'm sure I'm down that ounce or two2

Ignore the scale. If you must weigh do it once a week at the same time (first in the morning). It is just a number that is mentally gratifying and deprecating at the same time. Take pictures &/or measurements. Notice how your clothes feel (too tight = gain, loose = losing).0

As long as you do it the same every time, then it is fine. Plus, its not a contest, so cheating doesn't exist!
Yes, you can do things to make yourself weigh more or less fairly drastically, but in your case, as long as you do the same thing every time, it doesn't matter.1 -
Your weight fluctuates all throughout the day. Just pick a consistent time and circumstance and that will give you a good weight to compare to. I weigh every morning right after using the bathroom before I have anything to eat or drink. If I were to weigh again half an hour later after drinking my coffee then my weight will be a little higher. Don't make yourself crazy about the number on the scale. Just pick a time and stick to it.1

It's only cheating if you install a chin-up bar on the wall and lift yourself a little when you step on the scale.5

It's normal to weigh yourself first thing, after peeing but before eating and drinking. That is supposed to give you a better baseline with less variation based on what is in your stomach. I'm not sure it makes much difference (my weight still fluctuates like crazy and after all, most of the previous day's food is still in there, isn't it?) but it certainly isn't cheating.
What concerns me more is that you were up at 2am weighing yourself and that you're stressing about a 2lb weight difference (pee). I think you need to put down the scale and step away slowly.1 -
Why are you weighing yourself at 2am?0

I'm more concerned that you're weighing yourself in the middle of the night and worried about two measly pounds.0

Your weight will change throughout the day - we technically have no 'set' weight.
Don't weigh yourself more than once a day - not only will you get several different readings but this can cause obsessions and unhealthy thinking. As for not eating before weighing in (before 10AM) - I'd say this is quite a human, normal reaction to being weighed. We brush our teeth before going to the dentist so we get a better result. Putting excess weight in to our stomach's knowing that it won't digest before weigh-time and thus will DEFINITELY show an inaccurate GAIN is something none of us really want to see.
I always weigh first thing in the morning after I've been to the bathroom and after I've had a night of no food. Most of us do this. As long as you are being consistent and weighing in at the same time each week, you're fine.0 -
